His eyes twinkled brightly as he caught her smile. Maybe he had actually done something right! He ran to catch up with her, always grinning when in her presence. "Shall we split up or search together?" he asked her. Please say together, please say together. Whichever she said, they were running in the wrong direction, and slowly he turned in hopes that Katrina might follow, but Kioh would not bend to far from his direction with her.

"Seperate is best." She told him knowing before she said it that it was not what he wanted. If he was gone then he wouldn't be thinking about her. "I have other things I need to get aside from what I told you."

"Okay." he said, and fell back from his pace with her. A little unhappy to be away from Katrina, he knew that he would just have to work faster, so that then he would be with her again in sooner time. So he smiled and set about his way, running to gather the round stone from the forest, chipping away at it until it was a perfect sphere, exactly two pounds. Then he set for the water and unicorn hair at the stables, where he borrowed a strand from Secret's hair with great thanks. He bought the phoenix from the desert merchant, and then set off for home, where he would meet Katrina again.

Katrina set to finding herself a cauldren, which was harder than it should have been. She didn't want to mainly because she was low on funds - rouge wand-wielding didn't pay well and being an enemy to the queen made it no eaiser to find someone willing to sell to her. But she managed somehow, and set it at cauldren's pool in the moutains. She didn't bother finding and telling Kioh. To him it might have been a game searching all of Narnia just to find her.

He waited for a while, pacing all the more. But then he realized that she had never said she was going to meet him here. Kioh felt foolish, and gathered all of the treasures that he had collected for her. He opened the door, and ran.
Ground passed beneath his feet as a blur, his eyes steadily searching for her. Surely she must have finished her gatherings as well. He ran through the town, the forest, and the meadows, but could not catch scent of her.
Finally, something on the wind caught him by the nose and whirled him around. Her perfume, an aroma seeming to come straight from His Country, wafted through his lungs. And he set off again, running. Never out of breath, his love for her giving him all the energy he needed. Finally, at the Cauldron pool, he stopped. "Katrina!" he greeted happily, walking up to her like a hound dog greets his master. "I've brought everything." he said, holding the stone in his left hand, the bowl of pure water and unicorn hair in his right, and the phoenix tucked under his arm, looking pitiful and trapped. He let the bird perch on his arm, extending to her. Kioh smiled, awaiting her approval as always.

Katrina nodded as she saw the suplies. He was faster than she thought. but the water wasn't nearly as much as it should have been. He would need to get more, but everything else was perfect. She thanked him and put the stone in the bottom of the cauldren and wrapped the hair around it. It was then she saw the hair was black. The hair of Caspian's demon cousin. "This won't work either," She said, "The unicorn needs to be a full unicorn, not a demon."

"Argh, I can fix that!" he said hurriedly, obviously ashamed at what he had overlooked. "I'll be right back... don't move!" and off he went, dashing over the earth. His feet rumming upon the soil softly as he bolted. A unicorn, a unicorn. Where to find a unicorn? King Edmund had one once, during his first reign. Or was that Peter? Kioh couldn't remember. It was long ago. But the creature would be long dead by now. He ran through the forests until he found a family of them, and persuaded them to give him a piece of their mane. He collected the water from the stream, and came back to Katrina.

(Past scene, since Caspian is going to die soon in a different thread)
Caspian stood by the oasis, staring into its depths. It had saved him and Susan once, and he wondered of its powers. What kept such a pool full and pure when there was no rain to fill it? It puzzled him. But he was awoken from his thoughts when the knight approached him.
"Has there been an order sent for defense?" he demanded. Even if the King was not there at the time of the attack, Generals had the authority to call up troops in emergencies. Even some of the civilians were expected to fight. No Narnian would ever sit there and take it. The people were to brave for that. But still, they needed to get there, fast. He mounted his horse and extended a hand to James. "Climb aboard or be left behind." Caspian was never really in a good mood when the demons came. No one was. But Aslan was with them, and he had no fear.

Katrina smiled and placed the horn around the stone in the bottom of the cauldren. Silently she pointed her wand at the small pile of kindle and it ignightled. To any other the flame would have had no surce, but she knew it was her wand-weilding. She wondered only for a moment if Kioh would be standing there a moment lost in astonishment as he witnessed this, but only then she remembered he could proform the very same act. When the stone was warm enough she would pour the water over it, not before.

He settled himself next to her happily, simply enjoying being at her side. "What are you making for the Queen?" he asked her, peering into the cauldron in wonder. It was unlike anything that he had ever seen or heard of. He watched her graceful movements as she lit the fire, and that was what drew his mouth open. How beautiful she was, in everything she did... it amazed him. Hopefully she would just think he liked the fire, because he did, but she caught his attention more than any flame. By far.

"It's called a pheonix stone." She answered blowing onto the fire then standing to watch the stone. "The unicorn hair changes the way the stone is and the bird we'll use later after we add the water when the water's hot enough. We'll know when it is because it will start to glow a redish color, kind of like heated steel. When the water is added it makes the rock explode. then we put more water in and add the feathers and I'll stir it with the wandpoint. Then the excess water is boiled away leaving only the stone and the pheonix feather and the unicorn hair again, but the heat and the hair itself have caused them all to blend together and with a simple repair spell the rock will become a perfect sphere again."

"Extraordinary." he said, more so complementing her knowledge than the magic. He watched the stone for a while, though not really seeing it. His mind traveled elsewhere, to where it always was. Katrina. He looked up at her finally, the spark of love always shining in his eyes for her. "Katrina," he began, "Could I ask you something?"

She looked up at him, almost afraid to see his eyes. She knew what she would see there and it would only make it hurt worse to kill him. She had seen love in Caspian IX eyes, though a diffrent kind of love for her - more of a respected kind of love than true love, and it made it all the more painful to carry out her task. She almost didn't want to let him ask, but since he was going to die . . . "Sure," She sat on a rock waiting for the color to change, "What do you need."

His eyes held her gaze now, unwilling to look away. Pleading. "I need to know... How... What is your idea of a perfect man?" he asked, and then went on quickly, "Tell me, and I will be him. Please, Katy." he begged her. It took all of his strength not to reach out for her hand. "I know that you don't love me now, but I can win your heart. I know I can, somehow. I'll not stop trying until my dying breath." His voice was soft, flowing with love. With quiet suffering. That wonderful suffering a heart is bound to when it falls in love. That kind of suffering that never goes away. That kind of suffering that you are happy to suffer. "Please, sweet Katrina. Tell me. What am I not that you want me to be? I can be all you ever dreamed of, and more, if you just give me the chance." When he was finished, his face went pink. He hadn't been planning on letting that much of his speech come from his lips so soon, but after he got past the first word, it seemed that each one after it simply followed in an unbreakable stream of language filled with love. His eyes still begging, his heart still beating, he waited.

Katrina sighed and looked away. She should have guessed he would have said something like that. To any other girl it would have been a dream come true, something out of a fairy tale, but with her things simply wern't the same. She hated having to say it to him but the truth was painfully simple. As kind and strong as the boy could be meant nothing because he had only one flaw that mad him unable for her to love. "You are not Caspian." And as horrible as it was it was all she could say.
