She stayed there for a long time unsure of what to do. the water in front of her was crystal clear by her spellwork. she held the wand Kioh had made for her tight in her hand. Something in it seemed wrong, probably the fact that she needed help to make it. She felt an energy flowing through her, her own desire to use her power, but she would push it aside. she had done enough magic for one hour. the lake was clear, a few of the trees were burned, rocks were floating in air, all without any lost energy. But beyond the joy of having this power with her again was the fear of why she was here. Maybe she was running away from Caspian, from her love. Maybe somewhere in her mind she thought if she tore herself away from him she would stop thinking about him. Or maybe she was hoping to find an alliance with Tash, to destory Aslan along with his blessed Susan. If she died, without Caspian knowing it was her pulling the strings like they did last time, she could have a chance. But whichever of the two she wasn't sure. What am I doing? Where will I go? What will I become?

Kioh walked along the sands, hidden from Katrina by a great dune. Back and forth he paced, listening for any other being. Searching for any other source of life in the desert besides himself and his beloved.
Oh, how he loved her. He wished that one day, by Aslan's sweet grace, she might love him too. Kioh dreamed of her. Always. No dream was ever truly a dream without Katina in it. No breath of air was ever truly air unless it had her perfume in its winds. No thought was ever truly a thought unless it was a thought of her. His heart ached for her, and he was just glad to have her as a friend. Or at least he saw her as a friend, anyway. He wasn't sure how she him, but he was too afraid to ask.
Most of all, however, he wanted her safety. Calormen was not a safe place, so he would be standing by to intervene if anything went wrong. He would die for her, and he was pretty sure that Katrina knew it too. His muscles tensed as a new presence touched his senses. His face hit into a snarl. Caspian.

Caspian's feet trod over the sandy desert ground, his head faced down in shame and obvious meaning of no harm. A sword still hung from his hip though, simply because this was Calormen. Somehow he knew that he would find Katrina here. His hand rested on the hilt, not threateningly, but simply to keep her from taking it. He remembered how she had attempted suicide. He wouldn't let that happen again. "Katrina." he greeted her, taking a seat on one of the rocks that hadn't been levitated. "I have something of importance to speak to you about."

She had heard him come long before he came into view. the sound of his breath was far too distinct for her to mistake it for anyone else. She looked up at his perfect face, heard his perfect voice say her name and forced herself to look away. What could he want her for? Something to do with Susan no doubt. All of Narnia revolved arund her, dead or alive. But maybe, just maybe, there was still a chance. trying to kill susan had gained her no ground in Caspian's heart. What if helping him did? Absentmindedly pieces of sand began to come together and burst into flame. "Would it hurt me to know?" She didn't care, so long as it made him happy.

"Here," he said, reaching up and pulling one of the rocks down from the air. "Have a seat." The King patted the rock and waited for her to sit. "Katrina," Caspian began. "I believe that I owe you an apology." This was the start of his conversation, "I shouldn't have put you to the stake. I shouldn't have ordered you to be burned, and I am sorry." he looked up, waiting to see what her response would be.

Kioh sat, listening intently behind the sand dune. Damn that Caspian. No matter what he did, he always seemed to make things worse. If the King had come to insult Katrina, things would not be well. But now, with him apologizing to her, poor Katy would get the wrong idea. Kioh knew it. It was plain to anyone that Caspian wasn't going to leave Susan. But the apology would only fill Katrina with hope that would only be crushed. His jaw clenched. His ears twitched. What would Katrina say?
He didn't know what to do. Kioh wanted so badly to win her love. Caspian wasn't helping the situation. In Katrina's eyes, Kioh was nothing compared to Caspian. Even when Caspian had been the complete jack ass and Kioh had been kind to her, he was still nothing but a pile of dust next to the King. What did he have to do to win her heart? What did he have to be? What wasn't he that Caspian was? Kioh sighed. Chasing after Katrina's love was going to be hard. But he could do it. Somehow. But right now, he had to listen out for any trouble.

She sat, but not on the rock he offered. It was too close to him and his scent. But she didn't sit like a human either. It was more of a squat with her hands in the center and her back arched like an amimal. "You don't need to apologize. I wanted it." Of course he was appologizing, Susan must have made him feel guilty. She was one of the only ones to stand up for her. "If you had let me die I would have been happy. But that boy, the one who made my wand, the one who saved me, more or less ruined my death. He loves me. I'm not entirely sure why but he dose. He won't let me die, but my life is nothing but watching you be happy in someone elses arms. You cannot imagine how that feels. I can admit you had a taste of it, she left you, but she came back."

"No, Katrina." he said, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. "You gave me something worse. You helped kill her. You have never had to see me dead." he looked away. "You can't imagine what it's like... to watch your lover die right in front of your eyes." Caspian told her. Then looked back at Katrina, then tilted his head a little in confusion. Her posture was strange, to say the least. "Why do you sit like a dog?" he asked her. "You are not a dog." He moved the other rock a little further away from him, towards her, so that she might have something to sit on not so close to himself. Then Caspian sat back down on his rock. "And the boy. The one who loves you. Why do you resent him?" he inquired. "Look, it's quite clear that there's nothing for you and me anymore. I'm happy with Susan, and we have already begun our family. They are my life now. If you truly do love me, as you say that you do, then you wouldn't do anything to take them away or harm them, right?" it was a question. He wanted to hear her say yes. After a while, he went on, "You could at least try to be happy with him? You have nothing to lose. As an elf, you have nearly all the time in the world. And I see no downside to it. He looks at you the same way that I look at Susan. In his eyes, you are the most beautiful creature to ever walk this earth. He admires your spirit and your character, and it's quite clear to me that he'd die for you. What have you to lose?" he also wanted an answer for that question. He was just curious.

Kioh listened, his heart sinking. Had he really ruined her death? No. He had just given her another chance at life, right? That's what he had hoped to do, but it didn't look like she saw it that way. He sat behind the dune, a frown upon his face. But he couldn't have let her die! She was so wonderful, so amazing. It would only be shameful to let her die. But if she wanted to... Kioh's heart was tearing apart inside of him, as it did every time he thought of the burning. He could barely stand to see her with a frown upon her lips, much less to see her dead. He loved her, and could almost agree with everything that Caspian had said. Caspian hadn't said enough. Kioh loved Katrina far more than that. Far more than anything. For an elf to feel the way he felt for her was strange. Most elves chose mates for a time before breaking up and finding a new one. But his love for her was different than that. It was forever-lasting. Far more than any human could even dream of loving someone.
And his heart was broken. As Katrina had said, her life was nothing without Caspian. Kioh meant nothing to her, and he knew it. He looked out across the desert sands. He thought about getting up and going home. She was under the protection of her precious Caspian now. But no, Kioh wouldn't let himself leave. He didn't give up that easily. If anything else, he would serve as a watch dog. Caspian didn't have the hearing that Kioh had. Kioh could hear things from far across the sands, and his job, his duty, his desire, was to listen for them. So that incase anything should come, Katrina would be safe.

"Maybe I can't." She thought out loud. "I can be honest and say I may have wanted the Queen dead, but I never thought it could, or would, happen. I never truly thought everything through. I never imagined what would happen to you, to me, or your children. I just wanted you back again. That was all I knew." She looked at the rock he pushed towards her. She raised her back, still like an animal, and stepped onto it before sitting in the same position. "I don't resent him. I realy don't. I like the fact that someone is willing to come to me, even if I don't understand way. It was nice to have someone who would be willing to make a new wand for me." She tightned her grip on the wood, but kept it close to her not wanting caspian to break it again now that he knew she had another. "But my heart simply dosn't want me to leave. All I have to lose is you."

The King shook his head. "Lose me how? Katrina, in all truth, I am never going to love you again. Not the way that I love Susan. In a sense, you have already 'lost' me. But," he sighed. Was he really going to do this again? Was he really going to make the same mistake? Or would it be different this time. "Maybe we can still be friends. I don't know. What do you think?" he asked her. "And it would be a lot easier for me not to worry about you planning my wife's death if I knew that your reason to do so may be weakening, you know? Who knows, maybe he can even heal your broken heart, if you just give him the chance to do it. You have nothing to lose." Caspian told her.

Kioh smiled as he heard Katrina's voice. She liked the fact that he loved her. At least she wasn't annoyed by him. He punched the air happily, feeling successful, only to frown after Caspian spoke.
"Damn you, Caspian." Kioh grumbled under his breath so that neither of them would hear. "You're crushing her." Although what the King said was true, it would still hurt Katrina. Kioh knew that it would. If Katrina had said that to him, Kioh knew that he would be hurting. So as Caspian said it to Katrina, he could only imagine what she felt. He peaked his head out from behind the sand dune to get a look at them before slipping back into hiding again, even if he wanted to keep gazing at Katrina. But to do so was to risk being spotted. Why was she sitting like that? Kioh didn't know. He had never seen her sit like that before.

Again trying to be friends. But there was no use being stupid. She didn't have a chance with him. He loved someone else. Someone better than her, more beautiful, probably smarter too. She was the better woman. Who was she to try to take Caspian from near perfection. But she couldn't just go to the next man she saw, regardless of what they thought, sincere or not. Her heart lay with Caspian until her death. Then she heard Caspian's name faintly carried on the wind. She sprang to her feet, still perfectly balanced on the stone as her hand took out her wand faster than a human would have seen it. It was only after she was ready to fight did she realize the voice. Him. following her no doubt. Of course he was. It didn't matter. Then again, nothing realy did. all he was doing was hearing Caspian appoligize for trying to kill her. Maybe he needed to hear him say that. She sat back down taking the same position she did before, the wand still in her hand. she looked to the clear water as if debating to jump in, but didn't. "I don't know," She said talking as if nothing had happened. "Maybe it would hurt me more if I stay. I feel like if I leave I leave a part of me behind, a part I can't stand to lose. But is it better to let that same part get beaten to death until I die? It's impossible to say. Not even you could say you have a chance at understanding the choice."

Kioh gulped. He knew that he had been discovered. But still, he didn't come from hiding. He sat there, listening to the somberness in her voice. It ate away at his very soul. Now, his deepest desire was only comfort her. He wanted to wrap his arms around her, the way he had seen Caspian do to Susan when she was sad or crying. But Kioh couldn't do that to Katrina. She wouldn't like it. No, not from him. Kioh wanted to sit beside her and let her know that he loved her and that she wasn't nearly as alone as she thought. But he couldn't do that either. Surely, Katrina had grown tired of hearing it already. So he just sat there with an aching heart, and listened. He would agree with whatever she chose. As she said, no one could understand. Not even Kioh, try as he might, could muster a comprehension.

"What is is?" he asked as she stood. Caspian stood too, looking about. Was someone there? He didn't know, but sat back down when Katrina did. "Leave? Where are you going?" asked the King. Where was she planning to go? Caspian knew that wherever she went, the boy would follow her. That much was obvious. Caspian would follow Susan wherever she went, too, if he could. He plucked one of the smaller floating stones from the air and tossed it between his hands, listening for an answer from her.
