She swung from the tree, still twisting and turning in air to avoid the branches that still came at her until she landed beside him. He had already found something for her. She took it and looked it over and only then realized how hungry she was and did not spend another moment waiting and ate.

Kioh beamed proudly as she ate it. Then he searched the tree again, searching for the second-best. He found it and ate it, peach juice smearing all over his face. "I told you these were good." he said happily. They hadn't eaten in a month, and the fruit was delicious.

She looked up, her mouth full as she listened for a moment before she swallowed hard. Suddenly she felt the strong urge to be stubborn. "I don't think their that good. I just like it cuz I'm hungry is all."

"Oh." he said, a hint of sadness in his voice. Kioh sat down against the tree and ate his peach, one elbow resting on a raised knee. "Well, I like them." he told her, looking down at the ground. Then he perked up, deciding to tease her. "If you don't like your peach, I'll eat it." said the elf, holding his hand out.

"No, I never said it was that bad." She said sticking her tongue out like a child, "Stop trying to steal my food."

"Well then stop complaining." he laughed, sticking his tongue out at her as well. The evening sunlight drifted down through the trees and seemed to illuminate her. Kioh lost his words and simply stared at her, the Elven Angle that had stolen his heart those hundred years ago. She was so beautiful in every way, it was a pity that she didn't believe him.

She stuck her tongue out a while longer determined to be the one who held it out the longest and after he pulled his in she kept eating. Somehow she could feel him watching her and though it didn't bother her it felt strange. She wasn't used to being watched unless it was in some form of a test or trial. She wasn't used to people wanting to watch her unless she was using her wand for entertainment purposes. Eventualy she looked up at him, her mouth still full of peach. "What?"

Kioh smiled at her. "You're beautiful." he told her again. "Why won't you believe me?" The elf finished his peach and went up the tree for another, coming back down with two. One for himself, and one for Katrina incase she finished the one that she was eating. Kioh sat back down beside her and handed Katrina the second peach, best of the two that he had picked. The elf took a bite of his fruit and looked over at her again, waiting for her response.

"Because I already know that I'm not and I've trained myself to live beyond the lies anyone can tell me. I am an outcast of my own people and a stranger to the humans. I am too human-like and sympathetic for the demons, and yet I am too cruel and ruthless for Aslan. I live to use my wand-wielding to better myself, to forage a name for myself, though I know it is all in vain. In the end, even after all I have done for lord Caspian the IX, it still ends in bloodshed. What beauty is there in my life?"

Kioh frowned as she beat herself down. "That's not true." he said. "You are as soft and kind as a flower, yet more fiery than any star in the sky. You are as strong and fearsome as a leopard, but as elegant and beautiful as a swan." Kioh told her honestly, his face a little red with embarrassment at how he discribed her. He wondered if she might smile as she heard it, or if she would walk away from him, not wanting to be around someone who spoke so highly of her that it must have sounded crazy to someone who thought so lowly of herself. Kioh prayed for the smile, a brightness in her eyes, anything that would clue to Kioh that she liked what he said. "Aslan I'm sure loves you still. And you are not an outcast of our people. You've done nothing wrong." his face brightened, as his voice got quiet and shy. "Let me prove it to you. Come to the sky-fire show with me on Saturday?" Kioh was actually asking her out. His face grew a little pinker, "Please?"

"Sky-fire?" She looked up half asking. She didn't actually know what sky-fire was or how to make a show out of it. She remembered seeing the rainbow spirits stream across the sky in the northern mountains, but there was no sky-fire. Perhaps they did something with the sun, just as Kioh had harnessed the star's energy. But then, even if she wanted to answer she couldn't. What was a Saturday? She could assume it was a time, but how was she supposed to know when it was. Probably a human date, confusing as those were with their months and seasons. Elves only followed the moon - full moon was the time of light, new moon the time of darkness. the time when the leaves were full was when the leaves were full and when they fell was when they fell. There was no Saturday.

He nodded. "Sky-fire." Kioh repeated. "You'll see." He smiled when he saw her confusion. He had been hoping to impress her with his knowledge about humans, knowing that she spent so much of her time around them. But it appeared that he knew something that even she didn't. "It's in a few days." he said. "When the moon is full." He finished his peach, and tossed the center of it from hand to hand shyly. "Would you like to go. . . with me?" he asked her again, glancing up at her with a red face and smiling a little.

"I don't see why not." She told him. They had already done more than what the elves would have found right. Tree racing was something her parents had done only on the night they pledged themselves to eachother. Besides, IT wasn't an actual date or anything.

Kioh smiled brightly. But now he didn't know what to say. "Brilliant." was what he was finally able to form into words. This smile couldn't be wiped from his face, even though now he didn't know what to do. "Have you ever been to a sky-fire performance before?" Kioh asked.

"If I didn't know what they were how could I have been to it." She said sarcasticishly. "And if you say I might not have known what it was I still can't answer cus somebody won't tell me what it is."
