Caspian winced, pain showing in his expression. "Do you think..." he started, but decided to change the last few words of the sentence before he spoke them. "Do you think that it's alright?" The man put a hand on her belly, praying that he would feel three kicks from his children. Please... he begged. Don't be ill. Don't be... don't be... don't be dead. His heart stopped, his lungs halted. He waited and waited. Please, kick my hand.

"I don't know." She said putting her hand over his and tears began to form. Her first day knowing of the child's existance, and he may already be dead. Beneath her skin the other two moved as they pleased, though not as much anymore. But the third . . . the third never moved. He was still as stone and floated inside her. This is only one of your children, the voice told her, if you can let one of your children die before he's any more than a few months inside you, then what is to become of the others.

Caspian wanted only to cry and run his sword through something. His child was probably dead, and it was Lamont's fault. He didn't know how that could be true, but it just was. He was the evil one. He would take the blame. But right now, what could be done? They didn't know for sure, and all of Narnia was dancing over a battle victory. They couldn't tell anyone of Susan's pregnancy yet unless she wanted people to know, and crying would certainly alert people that something was up. And Caspian had made up his mind that he wouldn't cry anymore. Not infront of Susan or anyone. He had cried far too much lately, and far too much for a King. His emotions were beginning to embarass him.
Caspian could only feel two kicks beneath his palm. Where was the third? His heart sank and burned within him as if someone had poisoned it, and now it was suffering. But as he looked up at his wife, and saw the sorrow in her eyes, he knew that he should say nothing of what his worries were. Not this time. This time, Caspian would comfort her. He took her hand and entangled their fingers together. "Maybe that's the brave, listener." he suggested, as if perhaps the child were only staying silent to observe what was going on in the real world an learn from it, rather than panicing like his siblings. But Caspian knew that the likeliness of that being true were slim. It was a baby. All baby's got frightened. He squeezed her hand. "We mustn't give up hope for it." the man told her. Hope was all that they had. Caspian leaned forward and kissed her. "I love you."

Len replied to Caspian's question with a nod. She wasn't going to leave, this was where she belonged. Here to help in any way she could. She looked over to Susan. She's worried for her kids. Thinking back on what one of the nurses at the village said, Len placed a hand on Susan's shoulders. "This might feel weird but please don't make any sudden movements, and it would be easier if you evened your breathing" She said calmly. She slowly let her magic flow into Susan. The body is made of mostly water. A pregnant woman has more, you might be able to sense the heart beat from the children and the mother using magic. She closed her eyes and concentrated. One heart beat, strong, the mothers. She poured more of her magic into the girl. Two more heartbeats, small yet strong, two of the children. Where is the third? She didn't want to use any more of her magic since it might hurt the mother but still. She searched deeper there was something, a small heart beat. It was a boy. His heart beat was faint and he was weak. She placed some of her magic inside the young one to help strengthen him. Drawing back her magic she took a few deep breaths. "Two are fine and strong, the third, a boy, is weak. His heart beat was faint. I placed some of my magic inside of him. That should help strengthen him. The only thing with that is he might be able to use magic when he grows older. I should of asked first but he might not have made it if I waited" She said in between breaths.
Len turned to look at Lamont. "Try anything else and you will be sorry. You think your power is strong but it is no match for my magic" She said with a snarl. Here eyes were slightly red. She hated the boy. He caused too much pain.

Susan liked his words, they gave her comfort if anything. She smiled and kissed him as she felt something pass through her. She said to move was to probably hurt her, but it still didn't make her feel any more comfortable. She tightened her girp on Caspian's hand until the feeling was past. And then the witch gave her report. Her child was alive, her son was alive. She couldn't hold herself back from throwing herself at Caspian and holding him around his neck. She didn't actualy want to know her child's gender, but knowing he was alive was enough for her.

Caspian held her hand tightly, waiting. He didn't know what was going on, and watched Len, his eyes wide. He had questions, but he wouldn't talk until she was done. What was she doing to Susan? Why hadn't she asked them first? But when Lennia spoke, Caspian couldn't help but to smile. Their baby was alive. Their son was alive.
He held Susan tightly when she jumped at him yet again, and stroked her hair, brushing it behind her ears with his fingers. "Thank you." the King said to the witch, greatfully. She had saved his son's life. "How did you know that Susan is pregnant?" he asked, confused. Caspian didn't tell her, and he didn't think that Susan had.

"It dosn't matter," she told him, "He's alive, that's all that matters. Now let's all go to sleep, I need to rest." But she knew it wasn't just her. Her weak child had a better chance of survival if she rested.

Caspian thought for a moment. "Alright then." he said, only once he was sure that the other Narnians had the wounded under control. Beavers rode upon the backs of leopards, minotaurs between the shoulders of two gryphons, all leading back to the medical chambers. There weren't many wounded, and there were plenty of helping paws to go around. "Thank you, very much." Caspian said again to the witch. Then he stood, and helped Susan up. For the first time since he they had defended and won the battle, the King looked at the damage. Really looked. A wall had been beaten away by the rock-headed demons, but only about five feet wide or so. Tapestries were burning in the corridors, and already people were extinguising the flames. The church door was in pieces, and the golden chains were wrapped around his cousin. The damage wasn't too bad, so Caspian let it go for now. It could wait 'till morning.

She let him hold her for a second before starting to leave still holding his hand. She went to their room and curled on their bed waiting for him to join her. It was late now, the sun had set, the stars shone bright, the moon was rising. She was tired now and her children were beginning to move less, as if they were wanting sleep as well. She could understand. The day had been long and eventful and overall, it strained her body. She had gone from happy to overjoyed to sad and afraid and back to pure joy and then fear again and then to eternal sadness for her nearly lost child who may still be lost and at last to peace.

Caspian walked back into their bedroom, where they had been a little over an hour before the battle before being harshly awoken by his nightmares and the aproaching demons. But now the evil was gone, and the King took off his clothes and put on his pajama pants. He crawled under the covers and snuggled up to Cuddle-bug again. "Good night, Darling." he said, and kissed her cheek.
