She woke and went to his room. Several weeks of what seemed like peace had passed, but all knew the dangers that were to come if they were not careful. she had spent so much time preparing for what may be a comming battle the next minuet that she never had much time to herself or her lover. But now the sun was barely beginning to rise and she woke herself early for this purpose alone. He was still asleep at this hour, she was sure of it. She opened the door in silence and crept to her bedside There she softly touched his face and kissed him.
"Wake up my lord," She whispered, "you have a promise to keep for me."

Caspian squinted as he opened his eyes and sat up, blinking. When he saw her, Caspian laughed. "You don't have to call me that." he said, and gave her a good-morning kiss. "Which promise?" the man asked. He had made many promises to her, and would forever keep every one of them. Caspian swung his legs out of bed and stood up. The floor felt cold against his bare feet. His black hair was messy and uncombed. Caspian couldn't help but smile and laugh as he looked down at her. "The sun isn't even awake yet." he said, only pretending to be annoyed that she woke him up this early.

"I know," She told him, "But if I wait until the sun awakens then there will be all these things we have to do. We never spend as much time together anymore because of all this work. But this way we are together and we can watch the sunrise. I havn't seen one since I came here. But you promised you would take me to the tree you told me about weeks ago."

"Oh, yes." he said. A nervous, but happy feeling sank into his stomach, and Caspian knew that today was the day. The ring that he had bought for her was in the drawer of his bedside table, but he couldn't get it without her seeing. "Just let me get dressed and I'll meet you out in the hall." he said, smiling a smile that couldn't be wiped off his face, even if he wanted so badly for it to be hidden. "And then we'll go into the forest to see the carving."

She smiled and left him alone. Outside of the room she grew impatient. She had been waiting to see his tree for a long time, even if she didn't know why. She leaned against the stone of the wall and slid down until she was sitting. Her body was tired and wanted to sleep. her duties as queen had forced her to stay awake longer than she was suppose to, expessialy now of all times. She put her hand on her stomach feeling it move beneath her skin. Only a few days ago did she feel this for the first time. But the movement was so tiny that it could not be felt from the outside just yet.

Caspian quickly dressed, placing the ring in his pocket and making sure it was secure and wouldn't fall out. He strapped his sword to his waist and took the brush through his hair quickly. Lastly came his boots over his socks, and he was out the door. "Ready?" he said, offering her a helpful hand to stand up. Caspian was still smiling, and no matter how hard he fought himself, he just couldn't close his grinning lips. He couldn't help but wonder if all people felt this way before they proposed.

"I've been ready for weeks."she told him taking his hand and pulling herself up, "I've just been waiting on you and everyone else to give us some free time." She smiled at the site of him. She haddn't seen him this happy since his cousin had hurt her giving her the child she would call forever Caspian's son. Her heart lifted knowing he at last had something to be happy about. "is something on your mind?" she asked not letting go of his hand, "Not that it's bad but your never this happy anymore. I like it."

"Yes, somthing is, as a matter of fact." he said, being secretive. Anyone could have seen the twinkle in his eye from a mile away. "But you'll have to wait and see." Caspian said. When he was around her, it made him feel just like a kid again. The man winked at her, laughter behind his eyes and just waiting to burst from his mouth. He took her hand and held it tightly, knowing that he would soon place a ring on her finger.
Caspian lead the way down the stairs and to the door that lead outside. He opened the door and bowed like a five-year old pretending to be a warrior gentleman, his head almost all the way to the ground. "After you, kind Lady." he said, still smiling.

"You don't have to call me that," she told him repeating the words he had used on her moments before. But she did go through the open door, pulling him in after her. She wanted to laugh at the way she behaved around her. Others told him he was strong, and sometimes stiff, but she had never seen it. Always when he was near he was smiling, even when bad times came. "So how far away is it. I still want to see the sunrise."

Caspian stepped out into the cold morning air and breathed it in deeply. The sky was beginning to get lighter as the sun drew closer to the horizon. "We should probably see the sunrise first, then go to the tree." he said to her. True, the forest was beautiful in the morning light, but the sunrise was more beautiful in places where you could actually see it. "Where do you want to watch it come up?" he asked her, taking her hand in his again.

"It dosn't realy matter." She told him. The sun was already beginning to rise casing its light over the dark world that Narnia had become. "I follow you, no matter where you go my lord." She went some distance away from the keep where the people were beginning to awaken. She found a place against a moss covered rock and sat stroking her belly and patting the ground beside her. For the first time she actualy looked over him. "You brought your sword?"

"I always do." Caspian said, happily taking a seat next to her on the moss. "And I thought I told you that you didn't have to call me that." he said, grinning. He was happy to be with her. Especially because they had been separated for so long because of the upcoming war. Caspian watched curiosly as she rubbed her belly. "How's the baby?" he asked her.

"You did, but that was before you called me 'kind lady'." She smiled brightened as he asked her. Each time he took intrest in her child it made part of her insecurity go away. Always the thought of him rejecting her son because it was not of his own blood would be in her mind. But when he smiled as he touched it the fear went away, if only for a while. "He's started moving now," She told him, "But ever since he started he won't hold still. He's doing it now, you just can't feel it. I feel kinda like water dose when a fish starts wiggling."

Caspian laughed. That was an odd discription, or so he thought anyway. "What if it's a little girl?" he asked. "I'm gonna tell her that you thought she was a boy." he laughed and put a hand on her shoulder as he looked out towards the horizon. The light was coming over the hill now, and any moment the great circle of fire would pop up in the sky.

"I don't actualy know why I keep calling it a he," She said truthfully with laughter in her voice. She thought over the question for a moment before answering "My guess is it's just because of alot of things. You and Peter and Lamont are the first born of your fathers. Chance seems to favor males born forst. Then there's a matter of the throne he will take when he's older. As sad as it seems the Telmarines seem all too relunctant to let a woman lead them." She didn't like to say this to his face and looked back to the sun hoping he did not press her.
