Caspian walked from the forest into the great castle Cair Paravel. Although it wasn't completely finished, it was beginning to look similar. The basic walls were up again, and now all that was left was restoring the walls of individual rooms, mending windows and a few doors, furnishing, and of course, decorating.
The King looked around. This place was huge. The pillars were all in place, and the stained glass was already in the ceiling. He turned to Susan. "Where would your sister be, if she was here?" Caspian asked. Cair Paravel was long before his time, and he knew very little of his way around.

Susan followed after her lover into the ghost of a building that once was her home. for more than a decade she had lived in this place, never growing tired of it or the land around it. Everything from the glass roof that stretched high above them, to the great colums that had prophesied their comming to Narnia through the carvings that spiraled up the sides. To the west lied the door that was hung with Peacock feathers that she had always admired alongside her sister. To the east was a door that opened to a pathway to the sea where Lucy and Edmund would go and play chess with the merpeople of the Eastern Ocean. Behind them was the apple orchard that the apple orchard that the moles had planted for them while she was away that had become so overgrown that many had to be cut down for the sake of the restoration.
"I'd assume she'd be in her room, or out to the ocean," She said before stopping herself fram saying any more. At first she was going to tell him to check the ocean while she searched the castle solely because she knew it so well, but stopped. She didn't want to relive her encounter with Lamont again.

Caspian nodded, "Let's check her room first." he said. The king looked around for a moment and then turned in a full circle, his boots echoing on the stone floor. So many different corridors and passages to choose from. Any could be the way to Queen Lucy's room. Caspian laughed, "Which way is her room?" he asked, still trying to decide himself.

She could have laughed at him if she had the heart. She took his hand and lead him through what would someday be the door draped with feathers that marked the entrance to the queens' chambers. From here were only two rooms: Her's and Lucy's. But when they went into the ruins of the younger queen's room and found it empty she turned back and went towards the water. The sound of the seagulls cries screached around the shoreline around where they hoped to find food. She has to be here, She thought, Caspian promised us."

Caspian groaned when he saw the room was empty. The ocean was there next place to go. The King followed Susan through the many doors and hallways out to the sea. He held her hand tightly as they walked, like a little boy afraid to get lost in a crowd.
The sound of the pale birds filled the air as they stepped out onto the white sandy beach. The smell of salty water flowed into his nose and lungs. Caspian could almost even taste it on his lips. His eyes scanned the area, up and down the shoreline and all over the beach. "Do you see her?" he asked.

"No," She whispered sadly as she looked over the area. Lucy was gone if she had ever been there before. There were no footprints, no sandcastles, nothing left behind by anyone except for the birds. Had Caspian the IX lied to them? Was all of this a trap just like before? She gripped Caspian's hand tighter at the thought as images of Lamont invaded her mind like it always did. But by now she could easily push them aside and focus on other things. There had to be some other way. She quickly went through the vast palace calling the girl's name and keeping her bow strung as she half expected to see one of Lamont's men hiding in some corner. But there was nothing, no one, no where. "Your father lied to us," She said with hatred in her voice, "and we were fools to believe him. Lucy's still gone, still with that monster."

Caspian put an arm around her waist as they walked back to the castle. "We've only checked two places." he said. "Perhaps she could be somewhere else in this Castle. And that thing we saw wasn't my father. That was a shape-shifter." Caspian said. "But something is telling me that he wasn't lying. I made him promise that there would be none of Lamont's men here, and there aren't. We were just out in the open on the beach. If they were here, they would have shot at us by now. My cousin has never been one to hide and suprise." the King scowled, remembering how Lamont had seemed to just pop up everywhere. But not here, at Cair Paravel. "Everything is safe so far. We must find your sister here. Are there any other places that she might be?" Caspian asked. "Maybe she got hungry and went to the kitchen, or had to use the bathroom?" he suggested.

"never been one to hide and suprise." he says. That was a lie with no room for debate. Lamont hid himself in a tree, he hides behind Peter and Lyric's lies. The boy hardly fights his own battles and when he dose it is something he had already planned carefuly, down to the last detail. And thin comes the surprise of the horrible things he will do. But these thoughts left and she listened and laughed, "They havn't built the kitchens or the bathrooms yet. The building's hardly done. But with so much of the castle being open space I should've been able to see something that would help us find her."

"Well, let's keep looking. I'm sure she'll be here." Caspian said. He wanted to believe so badly that Lucy would be here, that all the trouble would be over with. "What about down stairs? Or farther out on the grounds?" he said. "You musn't give up so easily." Caspian told her. The floor beneath his feet was cold, although he couldn't feel it through his boots. He began to walk down another hallway, still searching. He didn't know just where it lead, but he didn't care anymore about getting lost. Caspian trusted that Susan knew her way around.

"I know," She said, but her thoughts lied only on the shape-shifter. They had watched him transform from tiger to man. He had attacked Peter right in front of them, he had used Lyric to get Peter to turn against them. How could someone who claimed to work in their best intrest do all these horrible things? He said he would feed them with information about Lamont, his whereabouts, his plans, and his weaknesses. But again, how could they know it was nothing more than another trap once he had their trust. "Caspian, If he wasn't lieing and Lucy realy is here would you actualy trust him, like you told him you would. Do you actualy think he could be your real father?"

"Of course not." Caspian said, frowning. The memory of his father in the casket came flooding back to him. "My father is gone. If he were alive, why would he be gone for all this time? Why would he not aid us in that battle against my uncle? Why would he hide? All I know is that whoever he is, he really wants my trust, and will do anything to earn it. So let him earn it. Let him give us all that we need. But he is not my Papa." the man looked away for a moment, then shook his head to clear his mind. "Lucy!" he called out again, searching through one of the rooms.

"Maybe he was hurting just as much as you were?" She thought hoping it was true. She didn't know why, but she realy wanted to believe this man truly was Caspian's father. Maybe she just wanted the hurt to leave his eyes every time he thought about family. "Maybe he was trying to get back all this time and didn't know how. Maybe Miraz told him if he ever returned he would kill you." She called for Lucy again and leaned against the wall. No matter what she hoped for, if Lucy wasn't here then Caspian the IX's promise was broken and they would not trust him.

"Maybe." said Caspian, not completly throwing the idea aside. "If he is, I hope he's been hurting everybit that I have." he said, looking behind the desk and under the chair before leaving this room. The man walked into the next room, a lounge with a fireplace and couches. "Lucy?" he asked. There really wasn't anyplace for her to hide in here, and he dismissed it and opened another door. "Lucy?!" he continued to call.

Peter glanced at the ruins of Cair Paravel, his mood dark. Ever since they had came back from the islands, the king has been keeping himself locked in the room by himself. His mind was on their father and he felt a lump rising in his throat. He sighed as he walked around them and into the surrounding areas, looking for Lucy. He closed his eyes and let fresh tears streamed down his face as he wandered where Lucy was. He had a feeling that she wasn't here. I will kill every single one of them if I find them, he vowed, gripping the handle of his sword. He chose to look outside, not wanting to run into Susan and Caspian.

"Peter," She stopped her search and let Caspian continue on when she saw her brother, "what's wrong. your crying." She was sure he would deny it was true, like he always had. The 'magnificent' king couldn't spend his time crying. It would destory his image as a leader, but she thought it made him more human rather than an idol of the people. still she didn't like to see it. "tell me."
