Susan looked to the old King as he came following after Lucy. She wanted so much to cling to him and thank him for bringing her home. But he was with Caspian now and she would leave the two of them alone.

"I'm sorry, but you must wait a moment longer if you want to speak with me privately." Caspian said, looking at Susan and Peter and Lucy. "I'm not quite sure who this man is. He seems to be a friend, but I would leave them until I know for certain." Caspian said nothing about the man being Susan and Peter's father. He said nothing of his trust just yet, and wouldn't until they were alone. That reminded him, "And you must also allow Susan to come with us. I keep no secrets from her." Caspian said, still looking over at the group and watching the man in the center.

He lowered his voice as his son denied the privacy, "I fear that this man may be one of the allies of Lamont. So far I have no knowledge of them, only that on my way back I saw a creature looking for Lucy. He had not known she had ever left, returned, then left again only to come back. He called himself Tumness, but Lucy told me he was dead. I think these allies could somehow be souls of the dead returning to this world. And my need to be alone concerns young Susan so she cannot be around."

"Fine." Caspian said. "But I cannot promise you my silent tongue, and they must be within my sight while we talk." the King argued. "If anything happens, I must be able protect all three of them." Caspian said. "Deal?"

Caspian agreed and he moved away into the other rooms where they could be seen but not heard as easily. He watched the new man who claimed to be their father very closely. But he watched more than him was his eldest daughter. "I see how you look at her," He told him, "It is the same way I looked at your mother when I first met her. But what do you think of her?"

His eyes widen as Lucy ran forward. He held her in his arms tightly as fresh tears ran down his face. The king raised his head, looking at his family. "All we're missing is mum and Ed," he said with a laugh that seemed off. He looked at Susan with an apoligitice look. "Ed's off doing some business for Narnia Sus. The Calmornes are planning a war," he held onto his family as long as he could. He looked at them with love and foundness. Their father looked confused. "Doing business?" he asked in a low voice. Peter laughed. "Ah...its a long story father. Trust me." his eyes were sparkling.

His answer that he gave came freely. It was no secret that he was in love with her. "My heart is her's." Caspian said. "I'd rather be burned than see a scratch on her face. She is my best friend. I can trust her and tell her anything." the King spoke. "Why? What does that have to do with anything?" For once, it wasn't accusatory. But that same curiosity that often filled his voice was there again.

"It is simple," He spoke as if he had rehearsed the conversation his entire life. "You are king of the greatest land in all the world. You could give all of this to her. But more, there are other things you must do. I learned while I was young, younger than you are now, that all people die, no matter how invisible they seemed. Later, after my father's death my mother died giving birth to my savage brother. Someday, like my mother and father and your parents, you will die. Then this kingdom must have a place to go. A counsel was appointed after my death and as we know it ended in my brother coming to power. But our people have always had peace as long as there is a rightful king or queen to take your place. Someday you will need an heir to your throne. If you truly love Susan as you say then marry her and let her bear your children."

Caspian felt shocked. He had intended, someday, perhaps even soon, to propose to Susan. But to have someone tell him to marry her made him upset. The man looked over to his lover, his eyes full of admiration. He turned back to the shape-shifter. "I will ask her to be my bride someday, soon." Caspian started. "But right now there is a lot going on. Lucy has just come back to us, and now we have word that my cousin has more strength that before." Then he looked at his father seriously, "And besides, I won't die for a long time. And Susan is still too young to be a mother. Lucy and Edmund may still take the throne if anything happens to the three of us." By 'the three of us' he meant himself, Susan, and Peter. The eldest of the Royals. No one could ever doubt that he held great respect for Susan.

Len followed the kings and queen back to the main land in silence. She had nothing to do with them and she didn't really care anymore. When the others said that they were going to look at Cair Paravel for Lucy all she could do was follow. She stayed near the sea when the others went to the castle. She didn't understand what was going on nor did it concern her. After a while she went up to the castle. When she reached the others she was shocked but relieved to see Lucy but who was the other man?

"A noble decision that she will either admire or spite you for. But in either case, have you considered the thought that there may never be another chance." He spoke using words he had never hoped to speak. When he was younger he had dreams of seeing his son in love and marrying, but he had never thought to be the one to push the idea, nor did he want to and especially not for these reasons, "I have been around Lamont for many months and I can tell you that he has eyes for her, though sadly not for the same reasons. He sees her as beautifully as any male, young or old, would see her. But he has pushed himself to make himself unbeatable. When he is through and he has his way he will take Susan for himself or she will die."

"No!" Caspian said defiantly, so loudly that he had to quiet his voice lest he be overheard. "He will not!" he whispered. "I will kill him first. I will." but what the man said bothered him deeply. Caspian continued to look over towards Susan again. He shuddered. Never could he imagine her with Lamont. Not again. "We can grow stronger too. We are not weak. We have allies as well." Caspian said. It was just that Narnia hadn't really consulted their allies just yet. But they could be powerful. They would not run like frightend children.

Susan almost laughed if she wasn't too busy being ashamed. She avoided contact with her father's eyes. But now Peter brought new buisness to her mind: The Calmornes. They had no buisness with Narnia's Tash-serving southern nehibor since she had turned down a marrage proposal when she was queen. As far as she knew there had been no trouble since then. "What is it they want from us?" She asked, "We've given them no grief."

"Then I'd advise you to rally your allies and do it quick." He told him, "Lamont will not wait for you to build your armies or defences. If we must strike I'd advise it to be before he builds his army, before he expects it." He looked around looking for more than just the people inside as he had done before, but at the structure of the building itself. "As great of a place this may be one day I would advise using someplace else as a stronghold. The Keep of our father's father should suit much better being that is has never been taken by siege before in all the generations it has stood. Has it fallen?"

"The Keep? No, it hasn't fallen." Caspian said. "We've all been staying in Telmar." he told him. The King thought for a moment. "Does Lamont still believe that you are his beast?" he asked.
[Sorry, it's kinda short.]
