Caspian searched and searched, looking through rooms that were as bare as the sandy beach, where others had a few things in them like wood and tools. Some rooms, for whatever reason, were completely done. It confused him. Maybe these few rooms had something special about them to the workers or something. He didn't know why, this whole castle was thirteen hundred years before their time. But maybe it had something to do with ancestors or something, Caspian didn't know, and he had to stop letting his mind get off topic. He was looking for Lucy, not shoping for a house. High and low he searched, anywhere that she might fit into, behind every corner, and behind every pile of bricks or timber. By the time he finally realized that he was alone, Susan and Peter were far away from his sight. He cursed himself for leaving them and immediately began to trace his steps. But where were his steps? Everything looked the same to him, and he couldn't tell one corridor from the other. "Susan? Peter?" he called. Caspian began to run.

Peter looked at Susan with a dead look. "I was just thinking," he whispered to her, looking away as he wipped his tears. He turned back and hugged her tightly, not letting go. "Lucy's not here," he told her. "Lamont was tricking us," he stopped and stared, wide eyed as their father appeared. "F-father?" he stammered. "Its me Peter," he said. Peter shook his head.

Susan stepped back as the man came closer. He looked so much like Peter with his hair and his eyes and even his build. But he was in England fighting, not even knowing Narnia existed. The small group of children had not heard from their father since the start of the war and they had assumed him to be fallen in battle long ago, so why would he come now? Was this what Caspian was feeling now that his dead father had returned? She wanted to run, but stayed still with her muscles in her arm tence as she watched him ready to grap one of her arrows if they were needed.

Caspian ran and ran until he thought that he would never find them. But then there they were. What were they doing? Panting, the man forced himself to walk towards them, confused. "Peter? Susan?" he asked. But then when he saw the figure he stopped. Caspian put an arm around Susan defensively, the other hand going to his sword. "Who are you?" he demanded.

Peter didn't even noticed Caspian coming with them. His eyes were locked with his father's. The high king looked suddenly like a child getting caught in the middle of a bad act. He ran to embrace him. Their father chuckled as he hugged his son. Peter's eyes swarmed with fresh tears again. "You've been letting out your feelings," he said warmly. Peter growled. "Shut it," he muttered, not caring anymore. He just wanted this to be real and he had a feeling he was.

Susan took his arm away from her. It wasn't that she didn't want him there, she just didn't want to relay a message to her dad that she didn't believe he was truly there. Instead she took his hand and held tight to it. "Caspian," She said wondering how he would react, "This is my father."

"This is your...?" his voice trailed off in amazement. The inch of sword that he had drawn clinked back into his hilt. Caspian looked at the man curiously, as if he couldn't decide just what he was. "What about the shape-shifter?" Caspian murmered to her. Danger was not something that he would allow her to stumble into again. "Ask him a question." he said. Caspian wouldn't let go of her hand, even as he continued to stare at her father. He did look exactly like Peter, but older. Love actually shone behind his eyes when he looked at Susan and Pete. Maybe this was her father...

Susan continued to look over the man that embraced what he claimed to be his son. Afraid and confused the girl stepped back once more. This couldn't be her father, she didn't want it to be. When he was alive, when she had last seen him she made him a promise, to keep her body her own for the man she would marry. But now, Lamont had broken her promise for her and she couldn't face the one who raised her. It had to be someone else, maybe one of Lamont's people that can change like Caspian's father. "That's not him," She said with fear in her voice, "It can't be."

Caspian put a hand on her back encouragingly. "But what if it is? Ask him a question." he repeated. "One that only he can know the answer to." Still, the man looked at the other cautiously. "Who are you?" he asked again, speaking to Susan's father. "Are you a Narnian?"

"I don't have one," She told him, "he was very social. Everything I knew was something he was willing to share with the rest of the world. If there were any secrets about our father only our mother knew about it." She sighed and hung her head without thinking about all the things he could do while she was looking away.

Caspian looked from Peter to their father to Susan. He frowned when he saw how sad she looked. He had to find a way to help. The King thought and thought for what seemed like ages what could have only been a few minutes. If Susan couldn't ask him a question, mabey there was physical proof that this was her father. Caspian looked back at the man in camofladge. This must have been their armor in England, Caspian thought, knowing that they obviously didn't dress like that from day to day in the Pevensie's world. He walked slowly up to her father and pulled the badge from his jacket. Caspian came back and handed it to Susan, "What about this?" he asked.

The former king went into the restored remains of the castle. Lamont still lay stranded on the shores of Dark Isle. He came for reasons he did not fully understand, something only told him that he must come. He made his transformation into a dragon then quickly flew from view behind the clouds while the boy buisied himself with his servant. But when he landed near Cair Paraval he went to its south to a small alcove on the beach. It was fabled that the four kings and queens appeared in this alcove when they returned to Narnia several hundred years after the Golden Age. There, curled against the back of the hiding place, sat Lucy waiting for her family to come for her. The girl saw him coming and was afraid, but saw how similar he looked compared to Caspian and confusion crossed over her. "It is alright," He told her outstretching his hand, "I am King Caspian, the IX. Your family is looking for you." With no more thought she took his hand and followed after him as she was lead to her old home to where his son, Peter, and Susan crowded around a man that looked much like Peter. Without much time she ran to Peter and hugged his waist tightly.

"It's a medal he got from serving our home country in the war." She told him, "But if someone realy wanted to impersonate my father then it could be easy to make one yourself out of some other metal or plastic." She gave the first excuse she could think of, she still didn't want to believe this man was her father, she didn't want to face him.
But then Lucy came and hugged her brother. She too joined in and embraced her sister with tears forming. She was alive and safe. Any wounds she had were either hidden by her clothes or healed by her potion she recieved from Father Christmas so long ago.

Caspian also joined them happily. "Lucy!" he exclaimed, and hugged all of them. Although he didn't fail to keep an eye on his own father, and the Pevensie's father, both of whom were now extrememly close in distance. Caspian left the of them to speak with the shape-shifter, but his protective eyes never left his friends. "Thank you." he said. "For bringing peace again to Narnia." the man had to admit, he hadn't expected Cotnar to come. Caspian had told him to stay on the island and stall Lamont. If indeed he did see the beast in Cair Paravel, he would have never believed, had he not seen it with his own eyes, that he would keep his promise and return Lucy to them. "Where is Lamont?" he asked. "He is stranded, right?"

"So I have your trust then?" He asked though he did not truly need an answer. He would be proud whether his son liked him or not. He was a strong leader, stronger so than him at least. "And as for peace coming to Narnia, there is still so much that needs to be done. Before I left then he told me he had other allies, more powerful allies than myself. I was merely something he used to gain power. But who these enemies are, or how strong they are, or what they want, I don't actually know. But if they are truly more powerful than me then it seems my time with you will not be much longer. Come, I must speak with you alone."
