"Mistro!" Casian called to the musician happily. "Some music, please." The old gentleman sent some of the servants to get the other band members. The music would be played in a few minutes, once they had decided on a song and the players were present.
Caspian held her hand as they waited for the performers to arrive. One by one, but not at the same time, a performer or two might come down the stairs carrying a Narnian instrument in their arms. The King was happy, and watched as even a few smarter animals came into the ballroom to watch, Trufflehunter and Reepicheep among them.

Susan watched the musicians come in little by little and the Narnians slowly enter. But sadly, Glennstorm was not among them. Not wanting to clutter her mind with bad thoughts she quiclky resloved that the centaur was with Edmund in Calormen. Her grip tightened as she noticed how many there were. It seemed that every Narnian in all the world had come to see her embarras herself. This was not going to end well.

It was moments before the music would start and the two of them would dance. Caspian could feel her grip tighten on his fingers and he looked down at her, for the first time noticing her nervous expression. "You'll do fine, I'm sure." he told her comfortingly. Caspian brushed her hair away from her face and behind her ears. The music started and the man lead her out to the middle of the dance floor. "Ready?" he asked, taking both of her hands in his now.

Susan nodded trying to coppy his stance and figure out what position she should be in. "I hope I am." She answered with her voice shaking, but not enough to notice. Maybe Caspian would be able to see it in her. Maybe. She waited for him to start knowing nothing on her own. Maybe she could just follow him and still be alright.

Caspian smiled and swept her off her feet. His left hand went around her waist, his right hand joining with hers. Music may have sounded in his ears, but his heart was like a drum as he danced with the one he loved. The man looked down at her, beaming brightly. His gaze connected with hers for only a moment before he twirled her in a circle by her fingertips. None of the crowd could Caspian see. Only Susan.

She watched him, her every thought focused on him. He was all that mattered and the others faded away. Eventualy the wound of the music played by the musions faded away as well replaced by another song that played in her mind. She had heard it once, a long time ago, shortly after she left him the first time and now the words came clearer than she had ever known them to be. Her heart sang as she followed his movements as perfectly as she could knowing she continued to make mistakes. She let him spin her and then returned with her back against his chest and his arms around her. She sighed in relief at the feeling she always had each time he held her. She could live her life in his arms. And one day, many, many years from now when her children are old enough to make their paths on their own, she would die in them.

Caspian held her close to him swaying in time with the music before spinning her again. When he came back to her this time he smiled and placed his hand on the side of her belly instead of her waist, hoping that the baby would remember him like she had said. No one else knew that she was pregnant, and only saw this as a mistake on his part. But their errors didn't matter to their fellow people. All they saw was two leaders, two lovers, dancing together. They clapped and cheered and shouted happily. Those that could, even roared.

Her smile brightened as his hand touched her. The child moved with his touch, it had learned and accepted his father. She could have told him what happened beneath her skin, but said nothing not wanting to tell the others just yet. The heart's song continued over and over again, without end, without care. Each time the song came again she grew more confident as she learned to read his movements. All she saw was him. All she heard was the song in her mind. There was nothing else. Nothing else would matter, not now.

Caspian danced, leading her all over the dance floor. When the song ended they were back in the center, and he kissed her lips. The Narnians cheered louder and tossed roses in to the two of them. The King could only hear them faintly in his ears. When one of the red flowers landed at his feet, Caspian picked it up. He smiled and gave it to Susan. It had no thorns on its stem, and nothing would prick her. His eyes sparkled happily at her.

She accepted his kiss and returned it herself. The song still played in her mind as she realized she was short a ring. Her engagement ring sparkled and shimmered in the light of the ballroom. But there was no wedding ring to give it company. They would get one later, together this time. She took the flower and smelled it looking into his eyes. Happiness was all she would see in them, all she would see in hers. Only for an instant was there a flash of pain in hers as the child kicked her three times faster than she thought possible.

The King flinched as he saw the pain in her eyes for only a moment. He hadn't expected to see that, but he knew that he didn't cause it. Caspian kissed her hand and lead her over to her father that watched in the crowd. As Telmaranian tradition, the bride and her father would dance after she and her husband had danced. Caspian knew that this wasn't really a wedding. Their wedding had been half an hour ago upstairs. So although tradition didn't really apply here, the man hoped that they would dance anyway. For so long Susan hadn't been incredibly happy to be with her father, Caspian hoped that maybe this dance would make it right.

She looked over to Caspian. He knew her reasons for not wanting this well. But for the sake of their marriage she did not question him. She only looked at him with only the smallest trace of fear in her eyes. She lowered her body in a curtsy and her father smiled offering his hand which she freely took. He lead her, just as Caspian did, and they danced. Each time she moved or turned she kept expecting to see confusion cross over his face as he noticed a change in her body that should not have been there. But it never came until the dance was over. She smiled again.

Caspian grinned when he saw her happiness. Now that Susan and her father were done dancing, the other Narnians began to dance as well, and the dance floor got more crowded. Caspian walked over to Susan and her father and put an arm around her, smiling. "Enjoying the dancing, Sir?" Caspian asked her father, being polite. To the King's knowlege, he still hadn't seen the ring. But that didn't mean that he hadn't. He hoped that her father would notice eventually instead of he and Susan having to tell him about their marriage.

She let him put his arm around her, but when she took his hand she squeezed it hard. She didn't like how she was pushed so suddenly into dancing, with her father of all people. Any moment he could have seen her and noticed the change in her body and she'd be in trouble. When she quezzed the child kicked again as if rejecting the punishment of his father. So at least I know they're on his side. she thought as she relieced the grip.

Caspian gave her an appologetic look. All he had wanted was to help make things right between Susan and her father, not make her angry. And he most certainly didn't want him to find out about the baby just yet. The man looked at her. She didn't look quite pregnant. Maybe just like she had been eating well since her return to Narnia, but not pregnant. Caspian stroked her hair. Things had to be made right between his lover and her father before he found out about the child. Anything else would have caused problems later on.
"Yes, indeed." Mr. Pevensie answered, smiling. But then his emotions turned. "I've heard that you're going to marry my Susan." He said sadly, almost glaring towards Caspian, but then turned somber again. "I knew this would come, one day." he said.
Caspian was speechless. He looked down at Susan and then up at her father.
