Peter wanted nothing better to do than to get out for a while. He left Susan and Caspian and started wander off. He was in his normal clothes today. It was clear to everyone that the high king was not in a very good mood today. He was slightly developing a headache. Peter was not getting enough sleep at all. All he was worried about was finding a way to get Lucy back. His eyes glittered with tears at the mention of his younger sister. What the heck am I doing? he asked himself as he ran a hand through his hair. Ed's right: I should start looking for her.
Without his knowing, his feet had carried him to the ruins of Cair Paravel. Peter stared down at the castle him and his siblings had once stayed at. But that was before they went back to England. He sat on a ruin with a sigh and looked down at the ground. The recent events had him sleep-deprived. What would Susan say if she knew? Probably that he needed to get some sleep. Peter shook his head as footsteps sounded.

Lyric walked through the ruins, wide eyed. Even destroyed, it was a wonder to her. She could almost imagine what it used to be, grand regal Cair Paravel... she wished she could have actually seen it, though. With her own eyes. Climbing up on a turned over pillar, she looked down and imagined walking the halls, like Queen Susan, or Lucy, wearing finely made clothes with people smiling and bowing at her, with respect.
Caught up in her daydream, she curstied to an invisible person, and managed to trip and fall off the pile of rubble, sliding down and landing right on her bottom. Her cry was loud, echoing throughout. "Ow!" She groaned, wincing with pain when she tried to move. She knew she was fine: walking back to Caspian's castle would just be a bit of a painful experience, now...

Peter rose from his seat as he heard a sharp cry. Gathering his thoughts he pulled out a sword he still carried. His eyes were wide alert and watchful. Rather than just saying 'who's there?', the king walked around for the source of the noise. He blinked as he looked down at a girl. He placed his sword away and held out a hand with a smile. "Are you allright, gentle lady?" he asked with a twinkle in his eyes.

Being a girl, she gazed at him for a second or so, and smiled, shyly. She's never been offered a hand before. Taking it gently, she allowed him to help her up. "Yes, I'm fine, sir, thank you..." she said, looking emberassed. Of all people, why did a young man like him have to be around while she emberassed herself? But she didn't mind too much. He seemed kind enough.

Peter smiled as he looked at the other girl. "Please call me Peter," he said with a wink. He then frowned as if he was lost in thought. Had he seen her before? He was sure he did. His eyes were still twinkling. "Whats your name?" his voice was soft as well as his expression.

'His eyes...' she thought, mementarily losing track of the conversation. She blinked, looking down to the ground, and blushed. "Oh, all right....Peter..." It was rare if she called someone by their name. But she consented. His voice was soft and his expression gentle. How could she resist? "I'm Lyrica" she continued, "Pleased to meet you." She realized she was still holding his hand, and quickly let go, curtsying as gracefully as possible in her baffled state. She hoped she didn't look too bad. Not in front of this boy. She hadn't had a mirror to look at for a few days now...

Peter grinned. "Pleasure's mine dear one," he said with a graceful bow. He smiled. He generally wasn't the type to go around flirting. Liar, he thought to himself with amusement. Look at the flirting you did with the court ladies. "Would you care to sit down Lyric?" he asked, indicating the spot he had sat previously. He doubt she knew who he truely was. But he would leave it up to her to finally get.

Dear one... she thought, feeling shivers go up and down her spine. Was he... flirting? She wasn't sure, she'd never really been flirted with before... For a second, she looked fearfully at where Peter had indicated, but gave a lovely smile and sat, smoothing out her skirts. "Thank you, si... Peter" she corrected herself, with a small, songlike laugh.

Peter laughed as he led her to the spot. He sat down and looked at her. "Have you always been in Narnia before?" he inquired. He had the right to be suspicous during these times, who wasn't? He could never tell who was friend or foe. It seemed like everyone switches sides every second or so. He sighed as his thoughts went to Lucy. "Lucy..." he said with a moan. He missed his sister terribly. Him and Susan were doing all they can to find her. And Ed had to run off, he thought grumply with a shake of his head. He got rid of his thoughts for a moment.

"I have" she replied, feeling a bit bad about lying. She smiled to hide any suspicions he had. When she heard him say a girls name, her heart burned a bit. She didn't even catch that it was Lucy. "...who's Lucy?" she asked, curiously. She couldn't help but feel bad. He seemed upset by...Lucy.

He looked at her. "Lucy...Queen Lucy's my sister. Well one of them anyways. There's Queen Susan and King Edmund," he said while counting off his fingers. He then blinked as he realized he spilled the beans. Oh well, he thought with a grin. "And I'm King Peter." his eyes were twinkling again. "but don't go formal on me now. Expecally when we were having such a nice talk." he really didn't want to tell her about his status. I would have told her eventually, he thought as he eyed the girl, waiting calmly for a reaction.

Queen Lucy... Her face paled. He was the king. High King Peter! From the stories! And the war! He was... She quickly contained her excitment, remembering her situation. She wasn't fully on his side. At heart, yes, but in reality, no. She had to be very careful... "I...see..." she said, after a long pause, and finally smiled at him, "Well, that's a bit of a shock. I should have known, you said your name was Peter, your sister was Lucy and you look so..." She stopped. For one, she was going to say handsome, and two she was babbling. Both were not good things to do, or say. "...kingly..." she finished, lamely, looking to the ground.

The king laughed. His eyes were twinkling. "Don't be so shocked," he said kindly. "And as to the other I really do not want to be formal all the times. It gets boring after a while," those words were never coming out of his mouth again. Peter chuckled to himself at the thought of Susan's reaction when she heard about this. He slid his fingers underneath her chin and gently lifted her head up. "Why so scared?" he inquired softly. There was kindess in his eyes now.

When he touched her, her eyes widened slightly and she got a dazed, dreamy look in her eye. Butterflies flew in her stomach. "I..." She closed her mouth. She'd almost told him, just like that. It was those eyes of his, so beautiful and hypnotic. Her heart was pounding, wildly, and she felt her throat go dry as he looked at her. "I... don't know. I guess it's because...you've been so nice to me and... I'm just a servent girl of King Caspian..."

Peter nodded with a smile. "I'm kind to almost anyone." he told her. "Well almost anyone," he fell silent as he thought. "Whatever is on your mind you might as well say it," the king told her kindly. "Otherwise I am going to find out sooner or later." he pushed his hair out of his eyes.
