"Don't talk," he whispered to her. "I don't want you to get hurt." he shifted to shield her from the men's gaze. The biggest and meaniest one jumped down from his horse. Peter assumed this was their leader. "Yes?" he asked polietly, yet tensing with anger. "I'm looking for someone." he replied with a growl and began describing her. The king glanced at the girl behind him, startled, then turning to him. He had a blank expression on his face. "No I haven't," he lied.

Her blood turned cold, and she felt half ready to faint. The mad had described her. What now? He was one of Lamont's men, she knew his voice well. A nasty man... Biting her lip, she faught back a whimper and waited, fingers shaking, clasped at her chest.

The man glared suspicously at the high king. Peter glanced back with an innocent expression. He then muttered something under his breath. "Fine," he turned to walk off, but changed his mind at the last minute and whirled around. Peter raised his sword, tensing and ready for an attack. He punched him in the stomach and left. Peter slammed to the ground while shoving Lyric aside. He didn't want her to get hurt.

Lyric fell, but quickly recovered and ran to his side. Affection and worry were in her eyes. Placing a gentle hand on his his stomach, she whispered, "That was all my fault, my king... I'm so terribly sorry. Are you all right?"

He covered her hand with his and smiled as he sat up. "I'm fine. That was a weak blow!" the king yelled at their retreating backs. They didn't even turn their heads, which disappointed him. He really wanted to fight them. His gaze turned to her. "Its not your fault dear one," he told her.

She smiled, shyly tucking her hair behind her ear. It really was, but she decided no to say anything else about it. She really was having a lovely time. Curling her fingers around his hand, she gave it a gentle squeeze. "At least you're all right. I worried..."

Peter chuckled as he lifted his head. He gently kissed her cheek, closer to her lips. He let her go and smiled as he stood. "We should be getting back to the others soon. They'll be worrying about us," he gently pulled her to her feet. Then, remembering their conversation earlier, "Are you sure you don't want to tell me what was on your mind?" he asked with a gentle teasing.

"No, I....." She stopped short, blinking up at Peter with suprised eyes. Had she heard him right? Had he really meant it? "...we, milord? As in... you and I?"

The king grinned as he smoothed her hair. "Why of course. I wouldn't have said it if I hadn't meant it would I?" he kissed her again. His eyes sparkled with delight.

She turned her head, and their lips accidentally brushed. She looked down to the ground, rocking back and forthnon her heels as her cheeks turned pink. "Er... um... to your siblings...?" She was nervous about meeting his siblings. How would he introduce her? Some girl he met in Cair Paravel? How did he think of her? All the questions were spinning through her head, making her feel a bit dizzy...

"Sure why not?" Peter asked with a shrug. He knew Susan would love her. Ed would ask many questions to the point where Peter would say to him to shut up. He smiled down at her. "They're good people," he said to her softly.

She paused, then srugged, and nodded. "I guess" she said, with a small smile, looking up into his eyes. She didn't even think about having to go report back to the castle. All she wanted to do was spend time with Peter. Linking her arm with his, she leaned towards him and whispered, "Thank you, Peter. Thank you for being so... kind."

Peter smiled down at her. "Its not a problem Lyric. I'm generally kind, unless you get on my bad side. Thats where we have a problem. But I'm sure we won't have a problem." he paused for a moment, thinking. At last he said, "Why were those men looking for you?" he inquired. "You haven't done anything wrong have you?" there was a slight worry to his tone.

Oh yes, nothing at all. Just being a traitor she thought, bitterly, but forced a smile. "Oh, well...." She squirmed, uncomfortably. What was she going to say? "I... don't know them...." Tears formed in her eyes, and she looked to the ground, feeling horrible. She didn't want to lie to him, but if she told him the truth... well, he'd hate her for sure. She was against him. Forced to be against him. And having to be against him hurt her. So she silently began to cry, ducking her head to hide her tears.

Peter was slightly starting to worry now. "Why are you crying Lyric?" he asked softly. He slid his fingers underneath her chin and lifted her head up. His eyes searched her face and expression. "Lyric...whats wrong?"
