She tried to make her body tense when he freed her, but the fire spell had been to weakening and she fell into arms she knew would catch her though she wished they wouldn't. "What puropse is this?" She begged, "I have no purpose."

"Yes you do." he said. "You just have to find it. You are smart, and brave, and true. Surely you have a purpose. How can you not." Kioh wrapped his winter cloak around her, shielding her body from the air and snow.

"I did, but it is gone now. He threw it away when Queen Susan returned. Now I have nothing. no love, no wand, and no purpose. I am weak beyond even the youngest of our children where even a simple fire spell brings me to this weakness. I am broken and of no use to anyone in this world. How can there be a purpose?"

"I'm anyone." he said. "And I love you." Kioh told her. "And you are not broken. You are not purposeless. You are not weak. And I love you." he repeated. Tears flowed freely down his face. He began to walk away slowly, glaring challengingly at anyone who dared to stand in his way. The man with the whip stepped forward, trying to get a last lash at Katrina. But Kioh caught it before it could touch her. It wrapped around his wrist, and he held tight, wrenching it from the barbarian's grip and letting it fall to the ground. It wouldn't hurt her anymore.

Nicole stared at Devon as he walked up. Kioh was at least Katrina's only hope, nicole would deal with Devon. "Devon Stop!" she walked over to him. "This is neighter the time nor the place, you will not harm anyone else here, ok?" she grabbed his arms not tightly but enough to restrain him. "WHat do you htink you are doing?" Sevona shouted in her head. "What do you think?" nicole responded."I'm not letting anyone else here get hurt."

Caspian stood angrily and was beside the boy before he knew that he had even taken a step. He wasn't going to kill him, and he looked over to Susan to tell her so. But he demanded the right of combat. It was an easier way to deal out anger without involving court or anything such as that. "You and I. Duel. Now." he hissed, drawing his blade and snarling.

"Caspian, don't do this." She whispered as he stepped forward to challenge him. She remembered the boy's strange magic from the desert and was unsure of what else he could do. His weapons were bloody from his last kill. Like a demon he hadn't bothered to clean them. Even Lamont had taken a liking to him coming to the desert and trying to win him over with gold and riches. But he had turned him down and protected her that day, or was it out of his own self preservation? Now he came and what he wanted she was not clear on, but she thought he wanted her, Katrina and nicole dead, but she could be wrong. "What is it you want with us?" She asked, "What did I ever do to you? A few weeks ago I didn't even know you."

"But why? I never did anything to you." She asked but part of her said that Lamont had infuenced him somehow. She didn't know, but knew it was a possibility. Then she remembered the demon's words: he had wanted her Caspian and Katrina, just like he was claiming now. There had to be some connection with the demons, but what? If only he just told them.

"I demand the right of combat!" Caspian roared. It was something that could not be refused in Narnia or Telmar. He wasn't a cheater, and would wait until he was acknowledged to deliver the first blow.

"No" Susan seemed to be all that held him back. She remembered all to well the battle between her brother and his uncle. Only because his second in command was disloyal did Peter survive. Miraz had tried to cheat then, what kept this stranger who didn't have the decency or morality to clean his blade from doing something much worse. With her arms still tight around one of his she whispered knowing only he would hear. "A son needs a father."

"I won't die." He told her with a gentle voice, turning to his lover. Caspian kissed her nose. "A son needs a life before he needs a father." he whispered, just as softly as she had. Caspian would fight this battle to ensure that neither Susan or their unborn child were killed.

"I still don't want this. No more fighting, not among ourselves. Don't we have enough enemies and troubles as it is?" She didn't say what she truly thought though. Caspian was, by far, the better warrior. If he could fall against the boy what chance did her and her unborn child that he died to protect have? She couldn't let it happen.
