The man lashed and lashed again, harder each time. He kicked her once or twice in attempts to bring her down. Caspian winced, and shut his eyes at times. But he still watched. It would be over soon enough.

Susan watched, never looking away. Every whip against her was one against her heart. How could Caspian do this? How could he be so cruel? And yet, how had she have been so powerless to stop it? Did her words or opinions mean nothing to him? Aslan save her

Every lash came no different than the one before. the crack became louder and she knew that he was hitting her harder, but her body was already going numb. Aside from the pain she was already getting used to only the blood that dripped on her legs told her what was happening. At least it will be over soon and she could burn.

Each lash came and went, until the whole thirty had been fulfilled and crimson seemed to be her natural skin color. Then the man picked her up and tied her wrists roughly to the stake, then her ankles.

Susan's body trembled as she saw her be moved. There had to be something she could do. Anything. Alsan, if you've never done anything before do something now.

Kioh had been purchasing firewood for his home when he saw a crowd of humans running in one direction. "The Ravenfrost girl." they spoke excitedly like a bunch of savages, "She's the one their beating." The elf dropped the wood and ran, weaving his way through the crowd. "STOP!" he cried out. "STOP! STOP IT NOW!" he leapt up onto the pile of wood, standing beside Katrina and pushing the man away that was trying to light it. "STOP!"

When she was moved she almost laughed. Splintered wood stuck her back and her wrists tried to scream at the tight wires. she could see someone coming, bearing the torch that would start the bonfire. But she shook her head. "Not now boy," She called, "They haven't put on nearly enough wood. I thought you wanted me to die not simmer."

"STOP!" Caspian shouted, and all was silent. They couldn't kill the innocent man. "You there, what is it you want?" he yelled down to Kioh so that he could hear him.

NO! Whoever it was he couldn't interfere. When he pushed aside the torch bearer the fire fell in barren soil and the fire could not reach her. Her weak hands formed fists and with every ounce of her being threw back her head as far as she could and screamed to the sky. "BRISINGR!" Instantly the dry wood that surrounded her burst into powerful flames. She would die.

"NO!" he shouted, and nearly screamed a spell to stop the flames. Then Kioh put a hand over her mouth so she couldn't say anything more. "DON'T KILL HER!" he yelled up to the King. Kioh was on the verge of weeping. "I love her."

Susan left her place beside Caspian to stand beside the boy. At least someone sided with her at last. The fire had come almost from no where, some new magic the witch was capable of using, but it was gone just as easily. But it was Katrina who started the spell, so did she want to die this time. Even if Susan tried her hardest to argue with Caspian would she still live? "If you love her then can you convince her to live?"

Nicole jumped off Anna as she tried to figure out what was going on. She spotted Susan and Caspian. Susan was with a boy and a girl tied to a stake. Nicole quickly ran to Susan's side. "WHat is going on?" Nicole asked not understanding what the girl had done to deserve this. Nicole knew exactly what it was but what could of been so horibble for her to deserve it? and Who had given her the sentence?

She hated the boy instantly when he stopped her spell. She didn't care if he loved her, he had made a mistake somehow anyway. No one loved her. "He can't," She answered for him when Susan asked. no one could save her at this point. Even if she had to take Caspian's sword and try to take her own life again she would end this horrible life one way or another.

Kioh knelt beside her, looking into her eyes. He could at least try. "Please, Katrina." he begged. A tear fell, and another, and another. "Don't die." he choked through his tears. The elf gently took her hands. He didn't care what the King said. Kioh pulled his knife from his belt and severed the ropes that bound her. Then the ones around her arms, legs, and ankles were cut. She was free. He wanted to heal her, but he couldn't here. If he did, then she would still be in the hands of the throne, and he would be too weak to save her. Katrina's blood was on his hands no, and all he could do was stare at it. His eyes turned back to her. "Don't give up yet, Katrina." he pleaded. "You have a purpose to live."
