"How is this in my best intrest? I'm not asking for you to make me happy all the time, no one can do that, but that dosn't make this any better. Aslan never killed, why should you?"

"Because her death would have taken another danger away from your life." Caspian snapped. He didn't even realize how angrily he had said it until it was too late and spoken. "Susan..." he said, his voice much more quiet now than it had been. "...I'm sorry. It's just..." he couldn't find words now. They had all left his mind for the moment, it seemed.

"I'ver heard the same excuse from you a dozen times and I don't care. It dosn't make it any better. I'm not saying don't punish her, throw her in prision for the rest of her life if you have to, but don't you dare try to take another life. It only makes me hate it more that you were kind enough to make me your justification on this murder of yours."

Caspian wanted to die. Arguing with her was worse than a lifetime in the fire fields. "It is what has always been!" he said. "And what if she escaped? I will not have her in our home while you are here. The mere fact that the two of you would be in the same castle frightens me. I won't lose you again! You don't, know, Susan. You don't know!" he yelled at her, only because he was more scared than anything else, and the memories of the subject he was about to bring up frightened him. "You don't know what it's like to hold your lover when they are dead in your arms! You don't know what it's like to have literally everything that ever meant something to you torn from your life in a single second! You don't know what it's like to feel like a failure because you weren't strong enough! Because you weren't physically capable of saving them!" he raised his broken arm, ashamed of it, showing it to her even though she still refused to look at him. Tears splashed from his eyes. "You don't know!" he shouted at her, his tears flying against the snow. "You don't know..." his voice became a whisper. "You don't know..."

"What has always been is still wrong." She argued back still not wanting to give in. "You said you weren't a Telmerian king when you took your throne and you can't start acting like one now." But when he yelled at her she turned her head, unable to look at him. It tore at her heart just as much, if not more, than her fighting with him had done. When she finally forced herself to look at him she saw he was crying. She took one of his hands and knelt in the snow just like he had done when he proposed, only it was much colder and much more uncofortable in a dress. "I do know." she cried, "Maybe not the same way you do, but I do know. I watched my family be torn apart because of the war, I saw my mother die and still force herself to live. My own brother tried to kill me for sweets when we first came here. I let Peter send dozens of Narnians to die at the Castle because he wanted to prove himself as a king again. I let a sixteen year old boy take advantage of me because I was not strong enough to fight him and too stupid to realize that he had planned for it the whole time. I let him ruin our wedding night with dreams and his demons and hurt Galen. I did nothing while he killed our daughters. I do know, it's just diffrent."

"No you don't." he wept, kneeling down next to her so that they were both kneeling in snow. "I watched my father go through the same thing your mother went through. I may not have had a brother try to kill me for Turkish Delight, but I had an uncle that tried to kill me for my throne. A cousin that is currently still trying to do the same. I may not have had a family to watch be torn apart by war, but my entire Kingdom crumbled. I did not come with you that night to protect you when our daughters were killed. Another fault of mine. But you still had Galen. You still had me. You still had your brothers and sister. you hadn't lost anything. Susan, the moment you died, I lost everything. You are my everything. You are my heart and my blood. You are the reason I live. Yes, I would have still had Galen, but he would have only been a living reminder that I was too slow. Too weak. He would only remind me that I failed to save you, and for the rest of my life I would pay for it." Tears spilled like a river. "You died, Susan. Don't you sit in front of me and tell me that if that Devon guy had killed me, you wouldn't want him dead. You know you would." His heart felt as if it were breaking, shattering into a million bloody pieces.

"No." She answered, "No I wouldn't. I've spilled so much blood already on the battlefields and with Swordtail and everything that came with him. . . I could never willingly kill again. No matter his crime, no matter my hatred. I'll spend a thousand years suffering because every time I see him I will remember how I failed, but I will never kill him. Killing for the sake of vengance dose nothing."

"That's what you say now," Caspian said, "But you don't know that. You don't know, Susan. You don't know until it happens. You don't know the feeling. You don't know the agony!" He was shaking now, not from the cold, but from his sorrow. His heart was racing with its pain. "You don't know." he said. "It's unbearable. If I hadn't promised to look after Galen, I would have killed myself. And Lamont would have the throne, and the world would turn black. The World doesn't matter if I can't share it with you." he told her quietly. His eyes were red from crying, and he looked into her eyes.

"It has to matter." She told him holding him. she hated this more than anything. She wanted nothing more than for it to end and let them spend the rest of the day trying to get their son to move. You know it was you who caused this. She hadn't heard from the voice in a long time. But as always it was right. If only she had shut up. ""Look around you Caspian. The Narnian's are free because of you and they will only be free if you lead them. They have to matter even when me and Galen are gone."

"They do." he said. "But they can't stop me from my death. Nothing could have ended my agony but death when you died." Caspian told her. "Nothing. Only Aslan had the power to end such a torture. And praise Him that he did. Had he not, we would both be dead."

SHe had picked up on that earlier and she didn't want to disapoint Anna.

"Dead, but not together," She told him, "I would be waiting for you in Aslan's country and you will never join me. It is not your choice to raise your blade against yourseld, to let yourself die, or to even encourage death to take you. Aslan makes that choice and when you make it for him you cannot be with him. What paradice is one without you?"

"He forgives us for all sins except preaching against him. He would judge me for it, but he would forgive me. I would not go to the fire fields simply for killing myself." Caspian told her. He turned away. This was getting them nowhere.

"What is it that you humans eat?" Anna asked Nicole again. A snarl was on her face as she listened to the boy on her back. How could one person have so many personalities that changed so quickly? It wasn't natural. It was almost scary. In fact it did scare her that such a person was snatching away the child's heart. Anna didn't want to see Nicole get hurt by this lad. "We could always throw your boyfriend in a stew." Anna suggested, only half joking.
