"No." he answered, feeling sad and shocked. "Did she act of her own will, and what did she do? Is she the voice of the Dark Island that haunts Susan, or is it my brother? Why does my brother do this? How could Secret have done anything before she was born? What happens now? Will the voice leave Susan?" and then, lastly, in a voice that was barely able to be heard, "Will Susan live?"

"néiat hljödhr," Katrina said and Secret raised her head and shook it as if she didn't want to follow the orders of the spell. But she did open her mouth and answered everything. "I did, I fed the magic of our brother to you and susan through me, I am not, he is not, he lives to please father, I did not but became part of this when our brother realized the elf he tried to hide from your memories was returning and could lead you to him so he put me in his service to stand in your path knowing you would not draw a sword against me, I do not know, It will not, and I cannot say." With the last question answered she dropped her head again.

Caspian looked at Katrina once Secret had finished talking. His face was apologetic, and his voice was quiet. She really had been telling the truth. She hadn't been crazy. No apology would match up to what Caspian had done to her. But still, "I'm sorry." he told her. "Truly, I am." His legs were not released from the spell still, but Caspian didn't question. It wouldn't matter if he could move, because he knew that even if he possessed the abiltity right now, he wouldn't be able to. The betrayal of his sister and all of this other information was a lot to take in. "Who's side are you on?" Caspian asked his sister. "Cotnar's or ours?"

Katrina nodded in acknowledgement of his apology, but not once did he say he loved her. Perhaps those wonderful, glorious, and perfec days truely were over. but then again, now that he believed her perhaps there was a chance at them being together again. No, Susan could be carrying his child and it would need both of it's parents. But she could be it's mother. But to tear Susan away from her child would destory her. Katrina shook the thoughts away as she whispered, "losna" and Caspian was freed. She looked at the ceiling of the stables as if they would answer Caspian's question. Her answer would have been the same if he had asked her a month ago or a century from now. She looked back to answer, her sad eyes meeting with his. "I will always love you."

Caspian felt his heart sink. Now he felt bad for her. She was probably feeling what he felt, when Cotnar took away Susan's heart. But Caspian loved Susan now, and even though the past had been confirmed, he was still blind to the memories, the feelings. If anything, the feelings were gone forever. "I know you will." was the closet thing that he would ever say to the words that she dreamed of. He had actually been questioning Secret's alliance though. "So?" he looked to his sister. "Cotnar or Narnia?"

The unicorn raised her head again and the moonlight reflected brightly off it's pearl beauty. "you came when I was born and helped my mother give me life," she said, "You pet me and scratch my ears. Susan comes and give me apples and carrots and sugar when father punishes me for reasons I do not know. I cannot side with any other. But my leaving will place the both of you in more danger for father will not allow any more of his children to fall to Aslan's side. Istalri-boetk has already left him and father seeks his death. The moment he is found he will die as well as whoever he has chosen as his host. i will not allow the same fate to befall the kindest of humans in Narnia."

"Istalri-boetk?" Caspian asked. He couldn't remember which one that was. "What creature is he? Which direction did he head off to?" if they could find this sibling, it would be a gain for Narnia. It would be one step closer to winning the war.

"None speak of him," Secret told her brother "Father tried to kill him a long time, but when he failed he disowned the fire spirit and banished him from the Firefields. Istalri-boetk has no place among our names anymore and it seems all have forgotten him. But father let it slip and told me his name and how he betrayed our father going to aslan and asking for his favor dispite his lineage. He was the only one to escape father and survive. Where he lives now I don't know. But legond has it he traveled far to the east in search of Aslan."

Caspian suddenly had an idea. He saw the key to winning this thing. Fire Spirits. His brother had survived, and so had Damian. Damian, in fact, had emerged without so much as a scratch. And helped to save a child. Fire Spirits had an advantage here. Caspian kissed his sister on the nose. "Thank you." he said, and looked over to Katrina. "I'm going to find my brother." he told her.

"You can't find him," Secret laughed, "To help protect him Aslan destroyed his body so he cannot be found. He survives only through the host of the mind he choses, not by wandering around. Search all you want, you will find nothing unless he choses to come to your mind."

"He... isn't, by chance..." Caspian's voice was suspicious, "The voice of the Dark Island? The voice practically lives off Susan." But if his brother followed Aslan, then he wouldn't be torturing Susan. So it couldn't be his brother. And the voice had been angery, and there had been more of them that invaded her mind that day that she came back to their secret tree. His brother was only one. "Nevermind." Caspian said. "But who's mind does he live in now?"

"I don't know." She shook her head as she tried to think. "I could never tell you where he is, you'd have to take that with whoever it is you believe or Aslan himself. Vut the Dark Islands are far to the east, are they not. It is very possibe."

"Well, I hope not. Because we need his help." Caspian suddenly remembered why they had come here in the first place. "Where is the centaur?" he asked. "Will he hurt Susan, or is she safe?"

"Viafot has been in hiding like a coward for far to long. I do not know where he is now, but through the energy I see through him I know that he is somewhere on the far southwest border of Narnia, if not farther. Forgive me for not being of more use to you, elder brother, but there is little one of my kind and sex, being so young, can know."

Caspian nodded, and scratched her ears. "Thanks." he said. "But is Susan safe? Do we need to run after my brother and kill him?" asked the King. "I need to know. Please Secret." he asked.
