"If what you say is true," Caspian shook his head in annoyance at the little brat elf. "She'll be looking for me. She's probably cut herself again. Then she'll come running through the trees, and say that Viafot wounded her or something bullish like that, and expect me to let her cry on my shoulder." he said, disgusted. Then he smiled, "She'll be coming to the Castle, but we'll beat her there. When she come's in, we'll get her." he said. They were indeed at the Castle now, and they climbed off of the Lion. Caspian thanked him again, and turned to enter the great building. He closed the door behind him. "I'll tell you what." he said to his wife. "You hide behind that pillar. I'll sit in the middle of this floor and pretend to cry, because she probably thinks that you are dead, and when she comes we'll grab her and take her down to the dungeons." The plan was perfect.

"I can rest assure you that she will die." Viafot's body changed, his horse portion melting away to become more human, his height shortening - though not by much - and his ears pointing. He stepped forward and wrapped an arm around her waist. Internaly she shuddered but she did nothing on the outside. "And when she dose you will keep your end of the deal." "I will she answered, but right now I don't hear them fighting anymore. Either Caspian or your brother are dead and I must see which of them it is." With a moment of struggleing she broke away from him and ran towards the castle where she knew he would be going.

"By the way you've treated eachother I don't think she'll be coming to you for anything, even something as small as comfort." When they landed she swung her leg over one side of the great lion and slid off his back letting Caspian catch her. When she did she realized it was Caspian's first time riding Aslan. Put his plan pulled her away from happy thoughts. "And if I hide and let you catch her then you will kill her. Is that it? I can't let you do that." She wrapped her arms tight around his shoulders and didn't let go. "Use your head, just because she did something we don't like dosen't mean you kill her. She's probably scared and confused and just wasnts someone to love her, even if it's not you. I'm sure she has a reason for everything she's done, but you have to give her the chance to defend herself. I killed Swordtail because i was more than sure that he would help Lamont take Galen and look where that ended us. I won't let it happen again."

"Well I won't kill her straight off like Swordtail." he said. "There will be a trial hosted tomorrow morning, and she'll be dead at sunset." Caspian froze as he heard footsteps coming behind the great doors. "Quick, hide." he said, placing Susan behind the pillar as quickly and gently as he could, and then sat in the middle of the floor with his back facing the enterance and put on the saddest face he could come up with.

With her back against the pillar she felt ready to cry. She looked at Caspian trying to pretend, but the face he gave was nothing like what she had seen when she died. It was amost impossible to imitate the horrible face she had seen, not if he practiced it a thousand times. She could just leave now, then he couldn't tell Katrina she was dead when she saw her.

"Caspian!" She shouted happily when she saw him and threw her arms over his shoulders, "I knew you would get here. And Susan," She took a moment to burry her face in his cloths where she could easily find the fresh scent of Susan's perfume. "Susan is here like I promised, safe along with your children." IT was only then that she noticed his face. He looked sad, a little. "What's wrong? Your children and wife are safe and your brother has gone back into hiding. What more do you want?"

Caspian wanted to hurl when she touched him. The look was clear on his face, and the expression of sickness no longer had to be pretended. He turned and grabbed one hand on the collar of her shirt, the other on the back of her neck. His arm didn't matter anymore. Not now. "You killed her!" he hissed. "You lied! You killed my wife and son!" he growled angrily, pressing his forehead against hers in rage. Then that dangerously calm voice came to him. "Tomorrow you will be put on trial, but for tonight you will spend your final hours in the dungeons of the Telmar Keep." and with that he folded her arms behind her back and grabbed her wrists. "You are here by under arrest for high treason and murder of the Queen. I'm sure you know the penalty." Caspian said, beginning to force her down the steps that lead to the barred cells where the prisoners were kept. Caspian motioned with his head for Susan to join them.

Her body shook as he yelled at her. Caspian yelling was something that hurt her deeper than he could understand. But when he tried to tell her to come she wouldn't. How could this be right? She wasn't dead, all had worked out well, why did she need to die? She was just lost in her own grief over losing Caspian as a lover. If he had walked into her arms susan couldn't deny that she would feel the same way and couldn't garuntee that she wouldn't do the same things she did. But she could still change. Edmund helped the White Witch and still they accepted him back. Why couldn't they do the same. susan wouldn't move, wouldn't follow, wouldn't even look at him.

Caspian gave Susan one look of disbelief, but wouldn't go to her. Instead, he roughly forced Katrina down the stairs. When they got to the bottom, he knocked on the heavy door. "I have a prisoner." he said. The eye-hatch opened and a pale face stared out at them. When the man was convinced that it was indeed the King and he did indeed have a prisoner, he opened the door and locked it behind them. Caspian tossed Katrina into one of the cells and bolted it. He would guard the thing himself till morning. He wasn't going to let her get away. "Filthy coward." he snarled. This was Caspian's hard side, a side that few had ever seen. Kings had to do things that they didn't want to do sometimes, and this was such a time. He wouldn't let himself or his family be made fools by this treasonous elf.

the next time she looked up it was too late, he had already gone. How can you call yourself the gentle queen if you sit and do nothing while others hurt. the voice told her and she agreed this time with her heart as well It's no better than hurting her yourself. For a while she stayed there, soft tears falling past her child and onto the stone. Why was she still sitting here? She wasn't helping anything. Why wasn't she running away? At least that way her problems were left behind, if only for a while. Why didn't she go up to her room and lay there screaming into the pillow until her voice gave out? At least then she wouldn't let her emotions strike at something she didn't want to. Why was she still here?

When he turned on her she did not fight. Only when he threw her into her cell did she snap out of her daze of temporary confusion to try to free herself. She couldn't just sit here in a hole and let her life end. Not like this. "No, she isn't dead." She defended herself griping the bars of her cage tighter than anything she had ever gripped before. "I can smell her perfume fresh around you. I can hear her breathing and . . . "She had to close her eyes and focus as the very faint sound that only an elf would be even remotely capable of hearing sounded above her, "And I can hear that she is crying."

"She is alive, no thanks to you." Caspian snapped. "You left her for dead, and you planned the damn thing!" he roared. "You love me so much that you'd take my family away from me just to bury yourself in my arms. It makes me sick. A baby! Katrina you killed my son!" The bars actually proved to protect the elf now as Caspian shook them like a cage, unable to get to her throat. But then he calmed. "Aslan saved her. That is why she is alive. Only because the greatest of Kings took her from death and gave her life again. But you... you. You had her marked for death!" he began to pace back and forth. "I don't know why, either. You should like her. You remember that day, in the forest? Lamont and Secret were there, and Lennia and Galen too. She whispered to me. And do you know what she said? She told me that I should love you. She said that in her absence, I should love again. She said that I should love you. But it was I that chose not to do so. And do you know why? Because I love her, Katrina, not you. When I said 'I do' on my wedding day, I meant it! Every word of those vows hold me now, and I enjoy it. Because I love Susan. She is my life now. She is my only joy in this world along with Galen and our unborn son." he was about to rant off more when she said her last phrase. Crying? Susan was crying? Caspian looked at the door that lead up the stairs and into the main hall forlornly. Susan was crying now? He stopped and went to one of the many guards, sending for her. The man left quickly to retrieve the Queen. Caspian wanted to talk to her. He didn't want her to cry. Never did he want her to cry, especially not while he stood by and did nothing. Caspian would comfort her as he always did. But until she came, he turned back to Katina. "What do you have to say for yourself?" he asked.

Susan was still there staring at a rock on the palace when the gaurd came for her. He bowed and told her that Caspian wanted her. But she tucked her knees in under her chin and rested her cheek on them. "Tell him I won't go." She said and he left.

Caspian heard the news, and commanded thirty guards to prevent Katrina's escape. There were no windows in her cell, and the only way out was with a key that she didn't have. But still, he didn't want her to break loose. Caspian himself walked up the stairs and found his wife. "Susan." he said, sitting down next to her. "What's wrong?"

She didn’t turn to look at him. She her body only tightened, as if defending herself from him. “I can’t let you do this,” She mumbled as though she was afraid to speak. In a way she was though. She was questioning him and her history of asking questions was not a good one. When she questioned Caspian he left her and she lost her heart; when she questioned her father he turned on her with rage. She didn’t want Caspian to do any of it. Only a few times he had raised her voice to her, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t happen. “If Lamont were to take me now tell me honestly that you would not want him dead.”
