Caspian kept quiet for once, looking away from her. He had given up. He wasn't going to argue with her anymore. His thoughts were elsewhere. Susan. Would she be alright? Had they hurt her already, or was she safe? What about their son? Would all of them make it out of this mess okay? What would this attack trigger? What would happen next? Would they win? Would they lose? Caspian's hand gripped his sword tightly as all of these thoughts flooded his mind.

She watched him sadly as she knew he thought of Susan. " We should continue onward," She said looking away, "This feud between us gains us nothing in the battle to come. We must at least appear to be allies in this struggle with Viafot. Although I wish we could be allies instead of simply pretending to be." She waited for him for a moment and started to lead her horse to a walk again. But as the wind changed directions it caught a stray scent and reared.

Caspian turned his head to stare at her blankly and simply nodded. It wasn't like him to that. He would have snapped at her and told her that the lost friendship was her own fault again, but he didn't. He was through argueing. He turned away again, when his horse reared too, almost sending Caspian flying. His hands let go of the reins and gripped the horse's mane, the only thing that helped him to stay on. When his horse calmed, the King exhaled loudly and took the reins again. "Where is he?" he spoke not to himself, not to Katrina, not to anyone. The question just hung. "I'll kill him."

Katrina sat straight when the horse had settled and looked to the wind's source as she touched his mind. One of his brethern, yet not of his kind, was hidden far into the plains to the west. "There." She told him and the horse followed the scent. For a long while he tried to resist her commands but eventaly gave in as they came nearer to the demon. He was as she remembered. His horse pelt was black as night itself and the great black wings were streaked with red lightning. The human part of him was stronger than any human could ever hope to be and all of the countless years of his nearly imortal life was shown in through his skin. He growled when he saw her, not yet catching the scent of the king who would be coming behind her, and tightened his grip on the thick chain he held with both hands. On the ground before him was the young queen bound by the chain that wrapped around her torso and pined her arms to her sides forming an X across her chest. She did not face her captor but her head was dropped and did not look up, even at the sound of Katrina's comming.

Caspian saw Susan and crept off of his horse. "Shh." he said to the steed, and then made his way behind the centaur. The King drew his sword silently, and positioned himself where his scent couldn't be found by the wind. He would kill this bastard, and any other that dare bind his wife.

"Come now, Viafot," Katrina said dismounting, a disadvantage on her part and stepped closer to the centaur, "Surly you knew I would be comming after what I saw in Caspian's mind." The stallion grunted ans stamped his hoof, nearly letting the hard edge kick the queen in the back. "You had your chance, rouge. Go now and you might be spared. We have little use for you again."

Caspian inched ever closer, silent as a cat, and gripped his sword. Anoher moment and the blade would be through the beast's heart. His eyes shifted to Susan. She would be free soon, and away from the dangerous feet of Viafot. What a girly name. Caspian would be sure to pester him about it in the centaur's dying breaths.

Katrina cursed as she saw Caspian behind his older brother. Fool. He would have already known he was there, whether he showed any sign of it or not. there was little chance she would make the mistake of believing he did not know. "I don't come for another chance," She said as he stepped forward sencing the challenge in her voice and dragging the helpless queen with him.

Caspian leaped at Viafot, his sword stretching out to his brother's back. Time seemed to slow while he was air borne, and the King took in every detail in those few seconds. The gleam of the blade, not yet blood-soaked. The heavy black chains that bound his lover. The hard bone structure of his brother that would be hard to shatter, even with a sword. The two horses, running away from them all. The green grass that disappeared slowly from his sight. And then time came back. . .

The powerful centaur's ears twitched as he heard the boy coming. With reaction that no human could posess he stepped aside rearing and trumpeting in rage. The great chain rattled loudly as he swung it, throwing the queen in the path of the blade.

Again the chain that restricted her was tearing her away from the earth. For an instant she was airborne only to crash against the hard soil. The moment she looked up she saw Caspian. Somehow he had known she was in danger and had come for her. The only problem was that for the moment it was her that his gleaming blade blade would strike.

Caspian's eyes went wide and he moved the blade quickly away from her. It struck his arm, but he ignored it. The King jumped to his feet and turned to face the centaur, and in one swift movement he had cut the chain from his hand. Caspian picked Susan up and began to run. He passed Katrina, "Hold him off for a minute." he demanded, and began to untangle his wife from the chains.

Her eyes opened as she realized he hadn't hit her. When she looked to see him trying to get her away she strrugled from his grip. "No, dont do anything!" She shouted wishing he would listen to her, "Go! Get out of here before-" She collapsed and gripped the sides of her head SILENCE! she fell limp in his arms as the pain tore through her body.

"I'm not leaving you here!" he said, finally freeing her from the chains. His expression was painful as she fell limp, her body seemingly lifeless. Caspian bent his head and listened. Her heart was still beating. He scooped her up into his arms, and looked over to Katrina. He grabbed her shoulder, almost dragging her by her clothing. "We have to go, now!" he shouted. That's what Susan had said. Before-

Katrina unsheathed the knife at her side, her only weapon after the wand was gone. She charged at the centaur, but he had no mind for her. He reared again as her knife struck his wing drawing thick blood from between his feathers. But he did not seem effected by it. He only charged, with the acceleration of a racehorse, at Caspian and Susan with his sword ready to strike from any angle.
