"But you are only a child." Caspian said. He was very thankful for all that she had helped him with, but he couldn't put yet another person's life in danger. "If you can see him hurt, it usually means that you are about to be hurt yourself." said Caspian wisely, remembering how the dagger had pierced his cousin's chest, and how he had groaned in pain. The King had felt triumphant before the boy yanked it from his flesh and held it to Susan's throat. All Caspian had done was give him a weapon. It was his fault that Susan was gone. "Why should I put you in unnecessary danger?" he asked. If she could come up with a decent reason, he might consider letting her come. No. something else nagged in his head. Are you stupid? You'll only get her killed. Just the same way your son was killed.

Her eyes snapped together at his sentence. "I may be a child," her voice was growing colder. "I know how Lamont works. I won't be in any danger. And besides..." she let her voice trailed off, knowing she would hurt Caspian for what she was about to say, so she quickly changed it. "It will give me vengence knowing that Lamont was killed as I watched," she knew that was kind of lame. She bit down on her lower lip and looked worried. "I want to come," she repeated.

Caspian shook his head. "He can't be killed by anyone but Aslan." he told her. "I've tried, believe me. Even last night, I was the one who through the dagger. It sunk into his flesh and he groaned, but he only pulled out and fought with it." It took all of his strength for Caspian not to hurt himself for his foolish mistake. "And if you do come, I'm not promising anything just yet though, we are going to try and do things as unnoticed as possible. The main task would be to save Susan, not fight Lamont." Caspian told her. "Still want to come?"

Syria hesitated while looking Caspian in the eyes. A part of her wanted to stay here, but it was only a small part. She bit down on her lower lip. "Yes," she finally managed to speak. "I must warn you now though....I can be a bit clumsy at times," the corners of her mouth twitched into a sad smile as she flinched, remembering how much she was beatened for that.

"Alright." Caspian said. "I'll think about it." he looked at her curiously as she moved as if he would strike her. "Why do you flinch?" asked the King. "I have no reason to harm you." he said, holding his hands up slightly so that she could see that his sword was safely in its sheath and away from her.

Syria shook her head. "Its nothing really," nothing that would interest you, she finished in her head. "Just.......memories is all," she said truthfully and sighed, linking her hands behind her back.

"Alright." Caspian said. If she didn't want to tell him, that was fine. He was curious, but this time, wouldn't ask any questions. Instead, he knelt by the Stone Table and prayed. Again. This seemed to almost be the only thing that he did anymore. His prayers had not yet been answered, but one day they would be. Caspian knew it. He spoke them aloud, speaking as if he was speaking to a friend.

In her hand she held a stick that measured almost as high as she did. With each step she leaned against it until she reached the room of the stone table. "Fate is kind for once." She said as she neared, "I thought I might find you here." She went to him slowly, still using the branch for support until she reached him where she tossed it aside. He had never had any opposition to carrying her before, not that she asked for it. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and kissed his neck wondering how long it would take before he realized who had come.

"SUSAN!" Caspian shouted with delight, jumping up at once to embrace her. "How did you.... Where did you... What did you...?" he couldn't finish any of his questions. It took all of his strength not to knock her over. He kissed her lovingly, but couldn't do so for long. He had questions. "What happened?" he asked, seeing the branch and how she limped. "Are you alright? What did he do to you?" He hugged her tightly. "You are never going back there."

She smiled at the sight of him seeing her. Very few times had she seen him stutter or not have words to speak. The only other time she remembered him doing so was the day he had asked her to marry her. But that nearly perfect day seemed like it was centuries ago. She put her hand against his neck as he kissed her savoring the moment. "I'm well enough," she told him as he held her. For a moment she could say nothing, only wrap her arms around his middle and thank Aslan for him. "I went through the wedding night and waited until he was asleep. Close to the morning i woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep. It didn't take me long to figure out that it was because I was asleep beside an abomination and the only reason I was asleep to begin with was because I was too hurt to stay awake. After a little while of laying there I got up and got my arrows and shot him. It was a good shot, close range, hit between his ribs, maybe even hit his heart. But he just woke up and pulled it out like it didn't bother him. That was when he beat me." She sat on the stone table and pulled up the edge of her dress just far enough for him to see her leg. "When he attacked I ran. But like an idiot I fell and he hit me with a mace a few times. I can still walk on it so I don't think it's broken, but I don't know how bad it really is."

Caspian's eyes went wide. His hand extended and touched her leg softly. Why was she always the one to be wounded? Why was she the one always beaten the worse? The King kissed her neck. "You don't ever have to go back there again." he told her. "Never ever." He took both of her hands in his and held her tightly, but not too tightly as to hurt her. "What about your other bandages?" he asked. "How are your wounds?"

"They'll be alright." She told him. Some of them had opened earlier, but they would heal soon enough, "But I have to go back. That is unavoidable. If I were to leave and not come back he would come after you. Doing that kind of defeats the purpose of me . . . marrying him in the first place." She struggled to say that she was actually married to the monstrosity. "I am sorry, but I have to go. I just wanted to see you before I left again. It's only been a day and I already miss you."

"But you're not married to him!" Caspian said happily. He said no more, waiting for her to ask him. He wanted to see the confused look on her face and here her question. "You are not husband and wife. You don't have to go back to him. I am your husband." he said, and kissed her happily.

"Yes we are," She said sadly not meeting his eyes, "You married us yourself. You might not have authority through a Narnian wedding, but for Telmar you do. I am married to him even if i still am questioning if I'm still married to you. But I cannot escape him. Even if I could I wouldn't though, me staying with him is keeping him away from you. And besides, with me meeting with you like this I could serve the same purpose with us as the monster did with us." She was unsure what to call the shape-shifter. Except for him being King Caspian the IX she knew no other names to call him, and that was a title he did not deserve.

"No, you aren't married." Caspian wouldn't stop trying to convince her. "Look. I don't have the gift of Aslan, so I couldn't have married you. A marrige is a union of Holyness. If I don't have that gift, I can't unite you!" he said happily. "Furthermore, you have to be a priest to marry two people. Kings may have power, but not when it comes to religion. A Priest can over-ride us. Even if I did have the power to unite you, I chose my words carefully. I said, 'then you are husband and wife'. I left out the 'I pronounce' and therefore its as if I've pronounced nothing. And, I said the verses in the wrong order. And besides, you and I are still married. We have not divorced. Is it not a law that a woman can not be married to two men at once? It is!" Caspian said happily. "That marrige was never legal!" he kissed her. "Don't you see? He has nothing against you. Nothing to hold you by!"
