Syria rolled her eyes as she turned away from him. "Whatever," she mumbled under her breath. She sighed and pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them. She laid her head on her knees, thinking nothing at all. Her thoughts wandered to her time on England and how she had first met Lamont. She growled as she thought of all the wonderful things about Narnia he had told her. Well he had 'forgot' to mention that she would be his servant. Ugh, what a mess of things. Syria shook her head, suddenly finding herself staring at him. "you enjoy seeing other people fight," she said with disgust, it was more of a statement than a question. She shook her headand turned it away.

"How could you be so cruel to him?" she said the moment he stopped talking. A few days ago we were both crying because we didn't know if we were going to lose each other. We were pretty much fighting over how the other deserves to live more. And now Peter's going through the same thing, he's loosing Lyric, and you won't even think about helping him? If I was the one Lamont captured you'd want Peter to help you just like he's asking for our help now. Lamont isn't that powerful and I'm sure we could beat him if he ever comes at us. So understand this: I am going to follow the High King's orders for this battle. I am going northeast with him and you and Lenna are going south, just like he said."

Len smoothed out her black and red dress, fixed her belt that held her weapons and other items before following Peter. She kept her guard up ignoring the voice in the back of her head. She had to keep focused or else everything could go haywire. She watched Peter closely knowing that soon his worst fears would become real along with the others. "Peter if there is someone to be mad with it should be me, I made the decision" She said noting wanting there to be conflict with the others. "Remember what I told you before. I don't listen well to others orders. Lately I've listened to your every word until now when I demand we go as one or we would be in more danger if we separated" She spelled out for him.

"We will save Lyric." Caspian said. "But I will stay with you. You and I may go north east, and Len and Peter can go south. I'm sorry, Susan, but you are far more important to me than Lyric. My duty first and foremost is to keep you safe. I told you before that I wouldn't leave your side. I can't risk losing you." The man said. "Don't worry." his voice was softer now. "We'll save them both. But we can't afford to lose anyone else in the process." Caspian thought for a bit. "Are you sure that your brother is telling us everything?" he asked. It wasn't acusing, but curiosity that filled his words.

Peter looked up at Len and sighed. "I'm not mad at you dear. Just mad at Caspian." he looked away, lost in thought. He knew what was to be done, and frankly he didn't know how to do it. He took a deep breath as blackness filled his eyes again. He slowly rose. "Stay here," he ordered. "Don't follow me," and he went running. He didn't stop until he came to Lamont and Syria. He placed his hands on his knees and gasped for breath. He didn't even bother looking at Lamont now. He wasn't himself at all.

"Again, I will have to say no." she told him. "I can understand that to you I mean more than Lyric, and to me you matter more than her as well. But to Peter she matters more than both of us, enough for him to even consider turning us in. This isnt like the white witch offering candy, this is Lamot threatening to take everything he loves most. If it was me taken you would do whatever it took to make sure I was safe and you know it. But if I wasn't to come back, if I were to die before you found me, then you would blame yourself for the rest of your life to the point where you question how you can live with yourself. I know that I would do this. Please, don't make Peter suffer like this.:

"I'm not going to make him suffer!" Caspian said. "We are saving Lucy and Lyric! All I require is that I go where you go, and you are safe. If I get caught I want you to flee. That's it! But while Peter is able to be controlled I won't have you alone with him! He can hurt you! Lamont can hurt you! I will not let that happen, Susan!" This was the first time that he had ever really yelled at her. Right after he was done his face went blank, and then somber and solemn. Regret filled his stomach. "Susan... I... I-" Caspian couldn't believe what he had just done. He had yelled at his lover. "I... I..." and all he could do was stutter.

Susan hesitated in her own argument. Never before had she heard him yell, not even when facing his uncle. He shouted a few times, for his troops and at his uncle, but never like this. But after his yelling was over Susan almost left, ready to go with Peter before Caspian could catch up to her, but stopped as she heard him stutter. She moved close enough that she could touch his face and force him to look into her eyes before she spoke.
"I know your worried," she said, "and I know you want me safe," She told him, "But Lamont dosn't know that we know his plan, dosn't know that Peter is on our side just as much, if not more, than he is with Lamont. If we were to change his plans, go some other direction, he will take his anger out on Peter, Lyric, and Lucy. I want you safe just as much as you want me, but I won't let my fears stand between me and Lucy. Yes, if the time comes that we cannot win I will run as far away as I can, but first there must be something to run from."

Caspian stopped for a moment to look into her eyes. For that short little time, he was hypnotized. "Then does that mean you will stay with me?" he inquired. The King wasn't sure if what she said meant that she was leaving him behind or allowing him to protect her.

"I . . . I want to," she found herself studering just as he had a moment ago, "but . . . but for Lucy . . . I just don't see how . . . If we're together he may hurt her, may hurt Peter. That I . . . I just can't have." She tried to shake her head, to make the mistakes stop. She didn't understand why it hurt so much just the few sentances. A moment ago she thought she was ready, ready to follow after Peter into whatever trap was ahead of her with only the arrows and her faith in her brother to protect her. But now that the moment came to say good-by it was just too painful for her to say. For a moment she could feel tears beginning to form. But she blinked them away and hugged his stomach.

Caspian felt tears swell in his eyes too. "I'll take that as a 'no'." he said, and knelt down on one knee to meet her face. For what could quite possibly be the last time, he looked into her water-filled eyes. "I love you." he said to her. "Be stong." Then he got to his feet for only a moment to retrieve one of his knives that was safely concealed in its sheath. Caspian knelt back down again and handed it to Susan. "If anything happens while we're apart, I want you to remember me by this." he said. The handle had jewels on it and the blade was sharp enough to slice through flesh and bone. The sheath of the weapon had the Great Lion Aslan's face engraved into it.

Susan smiled as he knelt in front of her wondering, only for a moment, if there was muc something more that he would say. But these frail hopes were - not broken - but satisfied in a diffrent way. She took the knife, that almost seemed beautiful, and held it tightly in her hand. "Never will I part with it," She told him, "I love you too."
She kissed him and took his hand wondering the entire way which of them would return if either of them did at all. Her grip tightned as they left the boat and headed towards where Peter and Lennia were supposed to be waiting for them. But apparently, since they left, that had changed. "Where's Peter gone?"

Caspian followed at her side, his heart racing. What if something bad happend? What if he never saw Susan again? Many questions such as these slashed through his mind as they walked. His grip tightend on her hand as hers did on his, and his other arm rested on her waist and pulled her closer to him. When she asked a question, he noticed it too. Peter really was gone. Caspian waited for a response from Len too. He was curious now, but his thoughts never completely left the girl at his side.

"What do you want?" Lamont growled and jumped down from his hiding place in the tree. "I see no Susan or any stubborn Caspian who refuses to be separated from her, or the wind witch." He looked at the boy and saw his eyes were not his own, but the black that meant he was being controlled. But by who, he hadn't sent for the boy to come here, or at least, not on his own. "Who has sent you? The master isn't here so far as I know?"

"I'll go after him," Susan volunteered without hesitation. Without Peter to follow there seemed to be no point in them comming. "Both of you go south like you were told. When I find him I'll shoot an arrow in the sky to let you know we're alright." And without waiting for a responce she tore into the forest following what tracks she could find.
