After what he said Susan fell silent letting him hold her. She hated the thoughts he put in her head. She wanted him safe, no matter the cost. This wasn't how things were suppose to be when she came back here. They were suppose to be happy together, living a peaceful life, without all this pain and confusion, and fear. She wouldn't say anything more to any of them. She didn't want to fight with them. She wanted to spend the time of what may be them traveling to their deaths in peace, laughing and somewhat happy. She wanted to see him smile before he kissed her, hear him laugh at her brothers immaturity and impusiveness. Anything but this.
"It's getting late," she said at last though she knew it wasn't, "I'm going to get some rest."

"Susan, wait." he said, knowing something was wrong. "Don't go away upset." Caspian told her. It was too early to be going to sleep, and the King felt as if he had said something to make her go. He would work harder at saying the right thing from now on. But what, exactly, was the 'right' thing to say? Caspian thought for a moment or two, trying to find the answer.

Susan stopped as he called her wondering as she did many times a day what he was thinking. She wipped away the last of her tears not wanting him to see them and almost ashamed she had let them come to begin with. She faced him, expecting him to say something, give some reason for her to stay above deck, but he said nothing and she waited. Both of them were in silence, she would say nothing to provoke him, she would give him time to think, No matter how desperately she wanted to know what he had to tell her.

"I'm sorry." he said. "I'm sorry for anything wrong that I've said or done. I can try harder." Caspian bit his lip. He hoped to God that he said the right thing. He meant what he said, no doubt, but he just hoped it wasn't wrong again. Then he smiled at her, "I'd love for you to stay out a while longer, but if you're tired then I at least want to give you a good-night kiss." The King tapped his lips as he grinned. Smile back at me. he thought. Give me some sign that everything is okay.

"No," She told him, "Don't think like that. You've never done anything wrong, there's nothing better you could do." She went back to him and put one hand around his neck, the other she let rest on the cloth that covered his chest. She pulled his head just low enough for her to press her lips to his. She held it for a while not wanting to let go, but eventualy did. "I'll take my kiss though. If you like, once I change, you could join me. I think my bed's big enough for two." And then Susan smiled and left without giving enough time for him to respond.

Caspian watched her leave, back to the ship Cabin. He decided that he would help the sailors for a while with the ropes, and then join Susan a little later because he wasn't tired yet. The King took a few steps over to the rigging, and began to help them tie and untie necessary knots. Caspian helped haul in a few buckets of water for the other workers to mop the deck, too. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. It felt so good to be at sea, and so good to know that Susan was okay, but he still felt like danger was stalking them. He pushed the feeling aside as best he could and continued his work.

Peter nodded as he turned away from Len to tell the captian that they were going to the isles. He ignored the look of fear as the king turned back with a flinch. Susan was easy to tell: she forgave him. But what about her? Be sensable Peter, he told himself sternly. You two know each other well enough. He sighed and told Len what he had told Susan.

Caspian worked for about half an hour to and hour before he quit for the day. He said goodnight to Peter and Len, and then checked to make sure that they were anchored and wouldn't blow off their course. How horrible it would be to wake up and find themselves in the middle of nowhere. The King strode easily towards the cabin door and knocked softly, but loud enough so that she could hear him. "Susan it's me." Caspian said.

Susan turned under her blankets to see him. The light of the setting sun, as well as its beauty, had kept her mostly awake. The gentle swaying of the boat had become almost comforting, now that she had become used to it. She had horrible memories of going to the Lone Islands with the others when she was queen where the rocking and her stomach fought with eachother. Peter and Edmund would probably remember it, but Lucy was too good to never bring it up again. She had taken her hair and, for the first time in a long time, tied it behind her. She hoped that this could help keep it out of her face while she slept, she had enough distractions keeping her awake as it is.
"I thought you would come," she told him, "Its later now, get some rest. We have far too long of a journey to be staying up all night."

Caspian smiled when he walked through the door. He was thankful that she let him stay with her, it was one-hundred times better than the hammocks in the cargo hold. "Thanks, Susan." the man said greatfully. He stepped into the closet and closed the door to change. He had brought up a little back of clothes from the cargo hold that held his pajamas. Caspian pulled his shirt off and changed his work pants into his pajama pants, and then placed all of the clothes that he had been wearing that day back into the little sack he had brought with him. The King stepped out from the closet and placed the bag on the floor by the foot of the bed and climbed into the covers. "Thank you." Caspian said to her again, and leaned over to give her a kiss goodnight before lying on his back and looking up at the wooden ceiling, beginning to imagine what would happen once they had reached their destination. Would they find Lucy in the Dark Iles, or a trap? Caspian didn't know which, and there was nothing that he could do about it. Stop it. he told himself. If the King carried on thinking of terrible unanswerable questions, he would never get to sleep.

when he lay down beside her Susan moved closer to him, facing him now. She could feel the warmth of his body against her skin, comforting her as she let herself drift to sleep. For once she would be calm all through the night.

Caspian turned to face her when he felt her touch him, and laughed quietly when he saw her face. "Cuddle-bug." he teased her, chuckling. The King silenced himself when her eyes closed to let her sleep. He was awake for just a while afterward, as the thoughts of the dangerous voyage that they were on slowly slipped from his mind. Caspian fell asleep gazing into her closed, resting eyes.

Len thought long and hard about what Peter said. "Alright then. We are headed into a trap, not that big of a deal. We should reach the isles in a half a weak. Better than a normal two week trip if your lucky" She said hopping to lighten the mood. When the captain changed course she used her powers to force a great wind filling the sails and sending the boat flying through the water smoothly.

Peter made a face and stuck out his tounge at her. He felt more relieved, but still scared. Half a week sounded better than the usual two week. "Do you want to duel?" Peter inquired, sliding out his sword. He didn't have nothing better to do anyways and he felt like sword fighting. "You know the rules: magic is forbidden." he said this part sternly.

Len smiled. "Finally. Besides I can't use magic on you if I have to keep this hunk of wood moving" She laughed as she reached for her two daggers leaving her sword sheathed. She positioned herself for the attack. She would let Peter attack first before she made her move.
