Peter was roaming through the forest, his thoughts were somewhere else tonight. He ran a hand through his hair. Maybe the old guy was right. Maybe I have been slacking off my duty as king... He hoped it wasn't true. He couldn't bear the thought if it was. He let out a sigh. But I have my reasons, he argued with himself. Who wouldn't put things aside after their sister was taken?
He could feel tears welling up in his eyes. He had promised their mum that he would protect his siblings. In a way he had failed to keep it. I failed you mum. I'm sorry that I couldn't be there for you Lucy. I failed everyone.. His eyes burned with tears that he refused to let go. His ears perked forward as the sounds of footsteps sounded.
"Who's there?" he yelled, pulling out his sword.

Len had been watching the high King with interest. What was going on in his mind that would make his emotions almost control him. She jumped from her spot in the tree and walked toward the King. "So you are the High King Peter. I won't harm you so put your weapon away." She said eying the blade.

Peter eyed her suspicously, but he wouldn't put down the blade. She knew who he was. Well of course everyone did. "And who are you?" he inquired as he lowered his sword. It was better to keep it out just in case she wanted to attack him. How long had she been watching him?

Len smiled. "I am Lennia Silverwind. Better known as Demon of the wind, but I prefer Len" Len sated simply. "By the way if I wanted too hurt you I would have already." Her eyes were still on his blade. "Well if you like to hold your blade then do so. If you don't mind my asking, what brings you to the forest?"

Okay then, Peter thought as he slid his sword back in his sheath. She was telling the truth in a way. He was thankful that he hadn't been hurt, well just yet anyways. "Pleasure to meet you Len," the king paused, wandering what would be the best way to answer her. "I couldn't sleep," he said truthfully. "A lot of things had been on my mind."

Sereff flew high above them enjoying the feel of the wind around her scales as she always did. With a stomach full from a good hunt she had little to worry about. There was hardly this much time for her to think for herself at home. No brothers to drag her down, no mother needing to be tended while she guarded her eggs that never seemed to want to hatch. Here she was free.
But, as always, the sent of humans interrupted her peaceful flight. But one of them did not carry the scent of a normal human like the other did. Sereff could recognize the normal scent to be the High King and the other to be a wind demon. Sereff could almost purr.
Almost a century ago a wind demon came to her island with a small raft she let soar through the water with only a single sail she powered with her control of the wind. At first she was not welcome on the island and was attacked. But the youngest of the dragons there, Shani, dared to step forward and call her friend. None of them will forget how the demon changed the path of the wind letting little Shani soar farther and faster than any dragon could. Sereff too shared the joy of flying under the controlled wind and knew it to be like no other kind of flying. Perhaps she could enjoy it again.
She swooped down, throwing dust and leaves all around her powerful dark wings as she landed. When all four feet were secure on the ground she bowed to the girl.
"It be many years since a wind demon I have seen." She said, "From where have you come from and to where do you intend to go?"

Len turned to the dragon as she landed not far from her. She returned the great beasts bow. "I come from across the borders of this land." She said not just to the dragon but to the King as well. "My detestation is undecided. I go where I feel." A smile creped over face. She had heard stories of her kind and their history with dragons. Her mother never bothered to tell who or what she was. Len knew she took after her father for her mother had no gift. She felt a breeze blow past her. As it blew through the trees she strengthened it and had the new wind blow past the group another time. "Worried for your younger sister?" She asked Peter without turning.

Peter nodded his greeting to the dragon while eyeing Len. He stiffened as Lucy's name was brought up. "That's one of my worries," he confessed. There was no point in lying to her now, he thought. "And as to the other, I'm wandering whether or not I'm slacking off my duty as king." the thought had also been in his mind ever since his advisor had brought it up. He pushed it out of his mind. He looked at the others carefully.

Len turned her attention to Peter. Her eyes grabbed hold of his. She held is gaze. "Helping ones self is the only way to help others. It tis the same for ruling a Kingdom. There is a huge task ahead of you and until you succeed, only then can you truly rule as you did so many years ago." She said in a strong, confident voice. When she finished speaking she turned her attention back to the dragon. "Where by chance do you intend to go?"

"My path leads to no place I have seen and my intentions are for none but myself." She said keeping herself from growling, a part of her voice that had become almost natural around humans. "But for the moment I am willing to search for the strange monster that hunts your kind. I have little interest to protect you, but it seems like an enjoyable chase for me."

Len turned again to Peter. "That is true there is a monster that took your sister and is hurting your kind. That would be an interesting chase. Perhaps I will help as well. Yet I am not the one to take orders." She said in a playful voice.

"And see to it that I am not ordered about as well." She growled to the boy. "I am not a human you can simply speak to and your will is done. A dragon is a free and tame-less as the wind itself." She stopped for a moment debating if she wanted to leave, but hesitated to say only one more thing. "This thought of quality of your rank may be a bit hard for a human to understand, I know. You humans are more territorial than the great wolves of Dark Isle. But you can understand that if my freedom is not kept completely in tact then I may find reason to join this monster enemy of yours.

Len smiled at the dragons response. She moved some of her red hair out of her face. "So do you want our help? If not then so bee it, my offer is only good till the sun rises." She spoke, her voice carried by the wind toward Peter.

Peter shivered as her gaze caught hold of hers. There was something unsettling going on in his mind. He turned to face Len and the dragon with a smile. "Well allright. But if there's any trouble, my order for you two is to make a run for it as soon as you can. I am not about to let either one of you get killed." he ran a hand over his hair, lost in thought as he listened to the converastion. "Your help will be much appricated it," he told the dragon. "But it is your choice."

Len smiled. "Well then where too first?" She asked. No matter what happens she would never obey that order to run. She wasn't about to say anything though.
