A soft breeze ruffled the leaves in the surrounding trees as the lone centaur stood in the center of the clearing, eyes closed as he inhaled deeply, breathing in the earthy scents of the woods. He stood stone still, taking in every small rustle of the small rodents playing amongst the ferns and the occasional song bird cry. Not a muscle twitched or his tail swished as Glennstorm stood, enjoying the serenity of the night air. The sky was clear except for the small clouds that dotted in clusters of to the east and threads to the north and the night stars that glittered like a thousand diamonds. The different constellations were finally making themselves visible when the grand beast opened his eyes to take in the scenery about him and the lights above. The moon hung overhead like a large droplet of dew on a spring leaf as he shifted his weight onto his hind legs and stretched out his shoulder muscles. His thoughts were idle for the moment as he had laid a side the current troubles of the coming back of he High King and Queen despite of what Aslan told them and the disturbing disappearance of Queen Lucy. So many questioned have yet to be answered and time will only tell when they shall be.
Stepping out of his stretch, the gazed longingly at the stars before sighing heavily. The lights over head foreshadowed a great doom approaching but for whom? Again only time would tell the so longed for answer. Sighing once more before Glennstorm, began to walk slowly down a lesser used trail, his mind he let wander over idle thoughts like ‘I wonder how the trees will fair in winter’ or ‘I must remind myself to fix my bow’ as he rhythmically placed one hoof in front of the other, not caring where he traveled.

Susan stopped her walking. At first she hoped to reach the mountains on her own. If there was a chance of seeing Lucy again she would take it, but something didn't seem right to her.
She had hoped to walk to the far north without her horse. Her brothers and Caspian were foolish enough to take their horses and not expect her to know where they've gone. But without her horse and a message left behind saying she wanted only to talk to some of the trees deeper in the forest; perhaps would be enough.
But here she would stop seeing the great centaur, Glenstorm. For a while she had wanted to speak to him but never had the chance, or knew where he was. But, for the first time in too long, the fates were kind to her and the two were brought together this night.
"Glennstorm," She called him as she approached, "You're not to busy to talk are you?"

The whispers of the tree spirits echoed soothingly amongst the tune of the rustling leaves as he continued on to particularly no where. His hooves thudded dully on the moss covered ground as Glennstorm took in the surrounding scents with a deep inhale followed by a thoughtful sigh. Everything seemed, just for the moment, to be relaxed and not stressed over every little thing. Occasionally the sky over head would shine through the canopy the tall oaks and pines created with their lofty branches.
The familiar call of Susan brought the centaur to a halt as he waited for the Queen to come to his side. Her question was replied with respect filled graceful bow and a noble shake of his head. “Nay my Lady I am never to busy to stop and converse with you” his voice held a tone of sincerity that matched his slacked expression of thought. Something about the way she held her presence signaled the proud being into wondering why she was out at this hour and without an escort, but pushing the thoughts into the far corners of his mind he turned his gaze quickly to the path before him then back to the Queen. “So, tell me what is on you mind.”

Susan smiled and sat on a rock. She had never gotten used to how his powerful, fierce appearance was complimented with his kind voice. Each time she saw him she would expect his words to sound rough and harsh, but it was never the case. She was glad she came to him.
"Not long ago," She started, "my brothers and I found a boy in the forest. He claims himself to be the son of Miraz and is just as power hungry as his father. Peter brought him down in a dual in a matter of moments. At first he told us Lucy was dead, that he had killed her himself. But all of us thought it was a lie and forced him to tell the truth. Then he told us she was in the mountains and his monster friend took him away to safety. I want to believe that Lucy is in the mountains, but he did not have fear in his eyes when he told us this. He did not look as though he was willing to say whatever we asked to live. Do the stars say anything that could tell us where she truly is? I cannot help but think that we will search every peak only to find she is somewhere far away from there."

Sighing softly, Glennstorm watched as the Queen sat herself down upon a rock then began to speak of what bothered her so. Her voice painted her thoughts clearly so that the centaur could voice her words in his mind to further understand their deeper meaning. A boy claiming to be Miraz’s son, but the infant had been taken by his mother through the portal the Kings and Queens had traveled through, and he claims that Lucy is in the mountains. And of these monster that are the child’s friend, so many questions with so little answers to give he thought with a thoughtful frown. He gazed overhead, studying the stars with a hawks gaze, taking in every detail they told. “My Queen, sadly the stars tell of nothing on her location but they do foretell of a dark time ahead.”

Susan's head dropped keeping her thoughts silent. We may as well assume her to be dead. But she knew she could not give in to these tortuous thoughts. Lucy could not be dead, but she was probably hurting and she was doing no good to herself or to Lucy by sitting. The thoughts of Lamont lying to them continued to press in around her and as more and more search parties in the mountains came back with not a trace of Lucy it became more and more clear.
"We cannot trust that Lucy is in the mountains. Will you go with me to Calormen, to the south, and search for her there? It is well known that they think of us a barbarians. What reasons do they have not to take her?"

A soft breeze rustled the leaves overhead and played at the tips of his tail, causing it to sway gently. He gazed up into the sky, following the path of a shooting star and losing himself in thought on the idea of Miraz’s son being alive and in their world made him ponder whether this was all Aslan’s doings or the result of a greater force. Shaking his head slightly to rid himself of the cluttering thoughts, he turned his gaze back to the Queen, his facial expression slacked as he silenced his mind once more as she began to speak. “My Lady, you needn’t ask if I will accompany you, for in aiding in the search for Queen Lucy I will do anything,” Glennstorm replied, his tone very proud and dignified for they spoke the truth.

He agreed and could be no happier. She stood again letting her emotions take control of her, even though she had trained herself not to for so long, and threw herself at the centaur where she clung to his chest. She wanted to savor the moment of happiness, she wasn't the only one insane enough to believe that what the boy said was a lie. Perhaps now they could find her and Susan could apologize.
But then . . .
"If the demon did not go to the north, then where could he have gone. The beast could very well be in league with the demon Tash, but no one has seen him since I was ruler last. But then again, maybe he took her across the eastern ocean, to the islands beyond the lone islands to some savage place that has never been found. How could we find her in an ocean so large?" Even if she wanted to she could not stop herself from speaking or letting the doubts push away her happiness. Now she wanted to cry again. But she had to force them down, keep them in a place where they could not be seen. A queen has to be strong, no matter the battle.

A soft smile crossed his expression as he saw in the Queen, how relieved she was when he had spoken of joining her on the search and return of her sister. When she embraced him he tensed slightly, unsure of what to do next, then returned the action, wrapping his arms around the slender build of the maiden. How odd the hug is, spread widely amongst friends family and loved ones. He gave her a comforting squeeze before releasing her once she began to speak again.
Such worry to be filled in such a young mind, Glennstorm thought, frowning ever so slightly. For every worry another had, Susan seemed to have twenty more. “We will over come one obstacle at a time, whether it be facing new dangers or exploring new lands. No matter the challenge we will over come them if it lead to finding Lucy” he stated, his voice showing true his feelings on the matter at hand. It hurt him to see the High Queen so distressed, so upset. He had to admire the Queen though, she stood so strong in time were any normal being would crumble into despair and give up any hope.

He stayed high above, in the branches of the trees, silent as a stone. He had watched as the princess cried and as the centaur helped her. And as he watched he was both happy and worried. Curse the princess who thinks outside of what she is told. Maybe he will fail at . . . no, he couldn't let it be. He had to step in before things went wrong.
"When there is no light only darkness can prevail." He said swinging down and drawing his sword. He wasn't much of a swordsman, but he had been practicing since his last encounter with prince Caspian. But if anything, the centaur was a thousand times more powerful. "Think I lied about the young princess and the mountains, do you? Well, there is nothing to fear of that. If you like I could send her away to Aslan's country like I should have long ago."

Susan did not wait for the boy to speak again. Unlike the last time they fought she was prepared and had her bow and readied it to fire. Nothing could make her miss her mark should she let go of the string.
"If you hurt Lucy I have no shame in killing you right now. Where is she?"

In one swift movement, the centaur grasped his sword from the scabbard strapped to his torso and held it at ready, tip pointed toward the boy. His expression was calm and level, at the sight of a young child with a blade, for he had an idea that the lad would more than likely cause more damage to himself then the Queen or Glennstrom. But as he spoke, his mind set was changed slightly. A young boy who speaks so confident in Lucy’s where abouts, must surely be a threat to the kingdom and its people. “Child, you better speak of where the Queen’s sister is or prepare yourself to fight” he spat the words out as if they were venom as he tensed slightly, ready to spring at the boy if need it be.

"Of course you'd all like that if I simply started babbling away about where I hid Lucy and what not." he stepped away from Glennstorm's blade knowing it meant only trouble for him should he chose his words wrong. "But then, if I were kind enough to tell you something other then the tragic story of how the young queen begged for death or how she is stashed away high in the mountains, neither of you would believe me. And then back we would go to this place of me standing at the point of a sword and the lot of you never knowing if what I say is truth. So then, what point is it for me to speak if there is nothing there to say. So by all means, draw your swords and arrows and I will simply fly away on the back of the great lion and leave all of you behind." He walked again, this time ending his short journey beside Susan close enough to whisper in her ear. "Or you, princess, could give me what I want."

He came to her, whispering to her as though she was his woman and she pulled away getting closer to Glennstorm. What he said made since, she probably wouldn't believe a word of what he said, but what could he do. Her grip on her bow tightened and she pulled the arrow as far back as she could.
"I don't care what you say at this point. I want my sister safe and I will kill you if you don't cooperate. You've given me no reason not to now. Whatever it is you want from me you can look forward to not being satisfied. I will never help you."

Caspian read the note that Susan had left and walked outside. Maybe he would be really quiet and surprise her as a joke. The King walked quietly through the grass and out to the forest. But by the time he got there Lamont was whispering something to Susan before she threatend to shoot him.
"She's a Queen." Caspian growled at his cousin. "And she's not your Princess." A snarl flooded across his face as he drew his sword, pointing it at his only family and advancing forward. The beast must be near by, this Caspian knew. But he couldn't see it anywhere.
