Why wouldn't anyone just let him go? What else did he have to do to show them that he was better off away from them, someplace where he could no longer hurt them? He didn't understand why they were making him stick around now, but then again, he shouldn't be that surprised. They had made him stay in the castle when they were out looking for Lucy, so that much hadn't changed obviously. Letting out a frustrated yell, he looked back at Peter as the older brother said his words. "Yeah, except for me Peter! Why am I not allowed to go out on the searchers as well? She's my sister too, and I should be able to look for her. But becuase you and Susan refuse to let me out, then I'm doing something about it. I'm tired of being treated as if I'm a five year old. I can take care of myself, haven't I proved that to you by now?" He shouted in his fury, wondering if this was helping at all.
Most likely not, and as Peter still tried to get him to stop, Edmund continued Alehan forward, trying to ignore the fact that High King Peter was chasing after him. They just didn't get it, that was it. Edmund halted Alehan sharply for a moment, hearing the faltering steps of Peter's horse. His eyes narrowed a minute, until he could make out the figure beside his brother. A small smile worked its way onto his face for some reason. Jonathon. Peter wasn't going to be able to go far with his advisor on his heels. Ed had yet to be assigned someone, simply because he wasn't in charge anymore. Shaking his head, he turned Alehan once more and used this slight distraction to move ahead of his brother. He was glad that Peter was now busy trying to shake off the older man, and Ed soon saw the messenger come up as well. This was too perfect. Alehan arched his neck as he picked up the steady but quick paced trot, and Edmund urged him along, disappearing into the woods and the twisting maze of trails and foliage within the forest. Peter was going to have a hard time finding him, and Ed was going to have a difficult time finding his way out. But that was part of the plan. He didn't care if he was lost, for he knew the direction the mountains were in. As long as he could get to them, he could get to Lucy. And that was the most important thing to him now.

Whysper heard the sound of hooves growing dim, as if a horse was leaving. She almost smiled: her hearing was even better than before. Training herself to listen... who would have thought it possible? Maybe it was learning to pay attention... She decided to put that off for now. She'd think about it, later. Besides, she'd been asked a question. "She approached me, wanting me to give you the letter. She seemed upset, milord. As if... ready to cry." She wasn't sure what revealing that information would do, unless he had some sort of interest in her. But she felt she needed to say it.

Peter was slightly distracted by the message. His mind was on Lyric and he was worried. "Did she say why she was upset?" he asked worriedly. He almost forgotten about his brother as he twirled the rose. He turned to Jon. "Do me a favor and go get that stubborn brother of mine?" the advisor rolled his eyes. "Yes my lord," and with that he rode off. Peter rolled up the scroll and looked down at the other woman. He pushed his hair out of his eyes as he waited for an answer. He didn't know that a few of Lamont's men were scattering quietly in the shadows, waiting their chances.

"I asked" she admitted, with a nod, "And she said she's was just very worried. I asked what about, but she just shook her head and burst into tears..." A buzzing filled her head, and she looked around, with a frown. Someone was close. Someone with bad intentions...

Peter stiffened. This was not going well, he thought with a shake of his head. Not well at all. "This is bad," he said with a sigh. "Did she say anything about Lamont?" he inquired. The king had a feeling the crazy man was behind this. He stiffened with anger and his eyes flashed. He didn't hear the whispers and someone pulled back an arrow, ready to fire it straight at the high king's back.

She shook her head, slowly. "No... nothing about him... milord..." She tapped her chin, looking curious, "What is this Lyric to you?"

Peter sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. Either way he felt that it was about Lamont. He gave the other woman a look as he replied steadily, "She's my lover and the woman I cared about the most,"

"I was afraid so..." A sad look passed over her face, and she looked to her feet. How was he going to tell him? "... I guess.... I have something to tell you, then..."

Peter felt his stomach sink. He didn't want bad news and he was afraid. But he had to have the curiousity of a cat. "Give to me straight then," he said with a sigh. There were whispers in the shadows. And Peter could have sworn he heard one of them say, "Shoot it now!"

Len walked towards the river. She splashed some water on her warm face. Her hair was tied back and she wore a long black and red dress. She had a pack slung over her shoulders and a belt that held two knives on her waist. Around her neck was her necklace of the five pointed star. She took a deep breath and enjoyed the view of the water. She turned as she heard voices. She walked further along the river to come across the King's and a water nymph. There was some news the the girl brought and Peter seemed disturbed by it. "So what has happened this time?" She asked.

SHe glnaced at the new arrival, and nodded in respcet before looking to King Peter. "You see... she was talking to herself when I was leaving, so I evesdropped. She... she mentioned Lamont. She said..." Shoot it now! She turned, pulling a dagger from her hip, and threw it in the direction of the sound. She watched it disappear, and heard a grunt, then a collective whisper. "We're not alone..." she said, bending her knees to a position of defense, "Should we warn the other King, or can he care for himself?"

Peter was listening with interest. So this had something to do with Lamont. The little bastard, he thought. His head snapped up as he stopped Len. He smiled and made a bow. "Hello there gentle lady," he said with a smile. He remembered their first encounter very well indeed. He then shook his head. "Something importrant is all Len-" he turned around as he heard a grunt. He reached down for his sword when he was hit with an arrow in the arm. "Not again!" he yelled angrily as he yanked it out with a hiss.

Len acknowledged the nymph with a slight bow of her head. She heard the noise from the forest. She turned her gaze towards the sound and prepared herself for a fight. "Strange that we seem to always meet when there is a possible fight King Peter. It would be very sad if this one was easy to bring down. A good fight would be nice" She said with a grin.

Edmund was quietly making his way through the forest trails, unaware that he was being followed by some of Lamont's men. They had been after Peter, but when they had seen Ed go off alone, they had seized the opportunity. Ed really had no idea because of the sound of Alehan's hooves, and he was just pleased that his brother was being bothered by his advisor and the messenger. But something caught his attention, and he froze immediately, asking Alehan to halt quickly. The black stallion threw his head up in agitation, but he listened nonetheless. The young man unsheathed his sword in anticipation, and that was when the men waiting in the shadows took their chances. As Edmund turned Alehan, he enabled the archers a clear shot of his chest, and he was aware of the buzzing noise as it sailed through the air. One caught him right in the shoulder, the place just above his heart. He slumped slightly in the saddle, trying his best not to cry out in pain. What in the world had just happened? As the agony filled his mind, body, and soul, one thought seemed to flare up in his mind. Peter! His brother could be in trouble right now, and it would be all of his fault. Ignoring his seering shoulder, and the weakening of his body, he turned Alehan as best as he could.
As he urged the black stallion forward, he became aware of a showering of arrows from the brush. One made contact with his leg, and he could feel himself trembling as he fought to stay seated on his horse's back. His voice came forward immediately, wanting to warn his older brother. "Peter! Peter run!" But as he burst from the woods and into the small clearing, he realized that Pete had already been hit. Growling under his breath, the young King brought his hand up the aroow shaft protruding from his chest area. He didn't want Peter to know that he was hurt. Breaking it quickly with a small cry of pain, he repeated the process with the leg arrow and ran Alehan forward. As another arrow made its way towards Peter, Edmund was quicker. It was more important for his brother to live then himself. Peter was more necessary to Narnia than Edmund would ever be. He urged his stallion forward even faster and sacrificed himself for his brother's sake. The arrow struck him straight in his side, and he could not longer hold onto Alehan from the three arrow wounds he had sustained. His body fell hard from the back of the horse, and he landed with a sickening thud. For a moment he felt as if he was in a daze, and then he looked down to this new source of pain. He couldn't move from the agony, and he found himself struggling to get to his feet anyway. Giving a fighting groan, he made it to his feet and pulled the bow and arrow from his horse's saddle. Standing as best as he could with the arrow coming out from his side, he started aiming his arrows into the woods, letting them fly until he could hardly stand himself. The blood was already starting to trickle from his mouth, and as he pulled his arm back for the last arrow he possessed, he released it and then staggered to his knees. Hopefully he had saved his brother's life.

Whysper heard a shout, and looked back to see the young king riding forward. She watched as he took the arrow for his brother, send an arrow to the attacker, and fall to his knees. She rushed to his side, and said in a firm, but gentle voice, "Hold still. Let me heal you..." She'd learned how to use her water magic to heal, and was fairly good at it. She would have to help the High King, next, but this one was more hurt. Placing her hand near the wound, she concentrated, and felt energy leave her as she healed him a bit. "That should help you for now" she said, looking at her work. She'd done a good job. "You will need to get it further treated later..." Giving him a quick smile, she rushed towards Peter, feeling arrows wizzing around her. Dangerous? Yes. But she was determined.
