"All find what they truly seek in time." She said with new venom in her voice, "The demons and worship of fire will, in time, see fire. The ones who seek the suffering of others will find suffering." She breathed in deeply for a moment collecting her thoughts, "The seekers of light and healing will be healed, but only if there are scars to be healed. If a man never suffers hardship then he has never known what he has truly been given. But the farmer who has spent his every hour of every day slaving over his fields, or the warrior who has trained a hundred days for a battle that lasts a hundred hours, know true victory. Without risks we have nothing to lose; without love we have nothing to gain."

Caspian pulled his hand back, hurt. What did she mean that time? He couldn't uncode it. What was she saying? That she wanted to die? He shuffled his feet uneasily at the window, and said nothing. He looked down to avoid her gaze. What had she meant?. . .

Her eyes followed his hand as he pulled back not knowing how it hurt her. for a moment she looked at him with eyes of loss and regret. This is what needs to be done, she would tell herself, you can't afford to back down now. "There is no shame in facing fear," She told him reaching down to touch his face and guide his eyes to hers as he often did when she was hurt and crying. "The warriors who stand the war come home heros, prouder and happier than they were when they left. A broken chain sent to the forge is strongest where it was welded together again. A forest scared by fire is the most beautiful in the land when it regrows. Let fear come, accept it and fight, and then emerge victorious."

"Then the angel must promise to be victorious." he said. He wanted to say more, but he didn't. Their codes were becoming less strong, and he feared that either Lamont of the beast would catch on if he said anything else. "Fire grows on the water." he said, looking up at her. "But it can never reach the sky but the sun."

"No beast could promise life, that lies in the hands of life itself." She sighed sadly knowing it wasn't what he wanted to hear. She desperately wished she could make the promise, but could not. Her life was in Aslan's paws, only he could give her strength enough to survive whatever Lamont was planing to put her through. "But all pray for life and bid their friends to pray with them." She was quiet for a moment wondering what else she was to say, what else could put his heart at rest while she was gone.

"Those who fight alone die quickly." he said. "Those angels that fight beside the Great Lion are always prosperous, if they only listen to him." Caspian said, praying that she would not fight alone. That she would fight with Aslan as her strength. He tried to reach out to her again, the way a dog a presses its nose through the bars of a cage hoping to be pet. He hoped that she might reach back to him this time.

Len smiled as she held the baby. He stopped his sobbing as he recognized her touch. She could feel her own magic working inside the baby to make him better, but, because he wasn't old enough to weld the little magic he had, it wasn't working as well. She used her magic knowing it wouldn't hurt him as it did his mother. Len's magic wasn't meant for healing but she figured a way around that. After he work was done the child was asleep and his color was slowly returning. She was reluctant to hand the child back to the warrior but knew he was safe for now. There was no way she was going to leave the child alone with the warrior. "He should sleep for a while till he is better. We can't let the queen and that boy know he is alive. Somehow he must look dead just to throw them off. I can have his breathing slow so that it is almost nothing and his body temperature cold. It would appear that he is dead but he will be fine. It has to work so he can stay safe until Susan can care for him" She suggested.

Damian watched as she healed the baby, smiling. Galen looked much better than he had before she came, and he looked happier too, even in his sleep. At least he wasn’t crying like before. Poor little kid. He took the baby back and held him, ready to turn to smoke at the first sign that the demon would be returning. But for now, it felt good to be in his regular form. “I think that you’re right. That makes sense,” the Fire Spirit started, “But it we should at least show Caspian once they are gone. There’s no point in keeping it from him once the danger has left.” Damian suggested. “We don’t really have to fake his death, by the looks of it, they’re leaving soon.” And then Dami remembered. “The shifting creature knows that he is alive.” He told the woman. “I’m sure that he’ll tell the boy at one point or another. But, the both of those bastards will probably try and keep it from Susan.” He snarled at how cruel that sounded. Damian pitied the Queen. He couldn’t imagine how he’d feel if he thought that his child was dead. The man looked down at little Galen as he turned in his sleep, his face sad and serious. It wasn’t an expression that children should wear, especially at this age. Not yet. They should be happy when they slept, dreaming of nice things. Not suffering from nightmares. Then he looked back up at Len from where he sat, willing to start conversation so long as they were hiding from the beast. “Where did you learn how to do that?” he asked.

Len nodded. "The king should know he is alive. I don't think that the demon is too sure the child is alive. Besides not many can heal that illness" She said. Len looked up. Her mist was thick but she could still tell that the demon and boy were leaving with the queen. "I learned about my magic around the age of five and still learned. I don't actually have healing but I know a few tricks that can help the body heal" She said. "What about yourself?" she inquired.

She took his hand and looked over him smiling as best she could. It was not a false smile, just not filled with the joy she could usualy give him. A tear fell as the fast that she would not see his face for a very long time hit her at full force. In her mind she could she their moments where he held her tight and kissed her neck. The few times he whispered her name in her ear with a voice of passion she had never heard from a man before. The soft and tenderness of his touch as he smiled at the child within her that was not his own yet he treated him as so. Her grip tightened as the memories that would in time become lost as dust in the wind came and went. "Do not think that the lost angels will not miss the land in which they came. They will always long to return home."

"I was taught like all the other kids in my village," he said, "But I was the one who always got into trouble." A mischievous smile came across his face as he said this, as if he remembered something, but then he continued. "Most of our schooling revolved around fire. They taught us a bit about healing and other things, but not a lot. I can barely remember it." he said. "What's your element?" he asked. He knew that there were Water Nymphs, Fire Spirits, Wind People, and Dryads. All of them looked the same though. They looked human. Until, that is, they used their element.

Caspian let his tears fall. It was a shame for a man to cry, and he did it so often that it embarassed him. But he held her so close to his heart, that whenever something bad happened to her, it was hard not to cry. "But they will see each other again, in one World or another." he told her. In other words, should she die, Caspian would take his own life just to be with her.

Len nodded as she listened. "Lucky I didn't have a teacher. My village threw me out when they learned I was a witch. As for my element, I use fire and wind a lot but I can use water, ice and earth" She said as if it was natural to use all. She never realized that only some cane use an element but rarely two. She took a deep breath wondering how long till the demon would leave.

"No!" She swung her leg over the side of the beast and threw herself in his arms ignoring the thoughts of whatever punishment could come her way. She held him tight around his waist as she cried more. "Never let it be. It is not the way it was intended. Aslan desides the fate of all men, to take your own life would be to defy him and face the flames. And then there are the ones left behind who still love. Never let the fallen angels take your life. Mourn and grieve as you are meant to, but never take your life. We would be eteranly seperated and nothing would be gained."

"That's horrible." Damian said, his face looking sad. "Why would they throw you out, just because you're a witch? How old were you?" he asked. He couldn't believe that people would throw magic users out of their villages. They were useful members to the community, and it was an honor to be able to even wield an element, much less four.
