"Then you are husband and wife." he said, and cried. He wanted to hug Susan and tell her everything, but he couldn't. Not with Lamont standing there. It would be her death. Caspian could only watch them in rage. Why had Aslan done this to him? Had he not been a loyal man to the Lion, praying to him everyday? Caspian couldn't think this way. The Lion had given Caspian a brain, and with that his plan was a success. But now the King stood there, a mere shell of the man he had been hours ago. "Be strong." he told her. "I love you."

Ignoring the line he had missed he pulled his bride close to him, pressing her body to his chest, and met his lips with hers. The taste of her skin was sweet and the taste of victory was strong within him. Only a few more steps and the throne was his. There were very few things that could stop him now.

Her instinct and her mind and her heart screamed to pull away when the bitter taste of his lips met. The wanted to push him away and run to Caspian despite their marriage, but did not for his sake. Instead, with a hand that almost shook from pain of doing it, she put her hands on the back of his neck pulling him closer. Aslan help us, she prayed knowing her words went unheard by the great lion.

Caspian cried and could almost not bare to watch. But that was his Susan standing before him. His Cuddle-bug. He would never close his eyes and shut her out. I'll save you. his mind said, almost as if it itself was speaking to her. I will always save you. Now all that was left to do was for Lamont's beast to come and whisk them away. Caspian wept, and his tears stung his eyes like hornets. It was a sour pain, but he knew the truth. His plan would help Susan in the long run, but for now it looked only dark. The light would come, though. The light would come. He stared at them, glaring at his cousin, but gazing at Susan lovingly and with grief. Please understand. His mind begged. Think. Think about what I've said. You are smart. Figure it out. What have I done, really?

He seperated their kiss at last and he continued to hold her tight, one hand rested on her chest. "You don't know what you have done, Caspian." He said, "It dose my heart good to see my enemies, enemies of Narnia crushed before me. Do not fear, your weakness will reward you one day."

Caspian did not respond. He would give his cousin no hint to his plan. The King wanted to cry out when he touched Susan's chest. To tell him not to touch her there. There was a wound there from the chimera, and he couldn't bare to see her hurt. The man stood there and waited, as if Aslan might come in and help them. He didn't. "What now?" questioned the King, sadness in his voice. "How on earth do you plan to go? You have no way to get back to wherever you came from." Hell. Caspian thought to himself. His cousin came from Hell. "Where is your beast?" his voice was hopeless. "Perhaps Susan should stay another night with me, while you go and find him." Caspian suggested, trying to persuade the last of his blood family. He knew the attempt was weak. It was obvious to the world. But still, there was no harm in trying. Sometimes even the smallest things can do the most damage. In fact, that very idea was the basis of Caspian's plan. The smallest things can do the most damage...

Anna zipped through the air, the dragon becoming small behind them. Her ears could pick up bits and pieces of what was happening in the chambers, but her main focus was on getting the baby out of here. She could hear the cries of the King. She could hear the wedding ceremony, and wanted to go back there and fight Lamont herself. But that would be foolish. The baby would be found, and Caspian had already ordered the troops to hold their fire. It would be suicide and murder to go back there now. Her tail swept the grass beneath her as she flew, keeping watch on the scaley monster out of the corner of her eye. Should he loose any flames from his jaws, she would know about it. Should he advance or stretch his claws towards them, she would know about. If he even licked his lips, Anna would not fail to see it. The baby burried his face into her feathers, scared of the dragon that flew above them. "It's alright, little one." she tried to comfort him. "He won't catch us." As she said this, she only flew faster. But how do we keep him away from us? She pondered. Annabelle turned her head and let fire burst from her mouth again, shooting like lightning towards the dragon. He would have to act quickly to dodge them, a skill that dragons just couldn't master. The balls of fire flew towards his belly, where even in the darkness, Anna could see the scar that Caspian had given him. So that was his weak point. She let the fire flow from her jaws, whisking away towards the soft and unscaled skin of the beast. The gryphon looked ahead again, flying onward.

"You'd like that, wouldn't you. For me to run off to find the master while you spend your time with my wife. I'll not be robbed of my wedding night so easily." He said only gripping her tighter and letting his hands wander through her body ignoring the rough bandages wherever he found them. How easily did he hope to trick him. He could very easily see him giving her up for the night only to return to an impenetrable castle.

Caspian reached out a hand but stopped. Don't do that to her! his mind shouted, but he could not form the words. He was smart. He would not even risk speaking out against his cousin for fear of Susan's death. Please, don't hurt her. he seemed to silently beg. Caspian watched them, suffering with every second of it.

The dragon followed, enjoying the chase. As the fire came towards him he breathed in deep letting loose from his throat, not a power of dragons but a demon from his lands, a stream of water. The flames and water both were destoried in a mass of steam he easily flew through. His internal structure began to change as his bones became hollow and lighter and his great wings became stronger and feathered. His body lost it's scales as his hind legs became those of a bay stallion and his front became a lion. He soared high above his target griffon watching him with hawk's eyes. He let lose a wolf's howl and dove ready to alter his course at the slightest movement. She could not escape her simply because he was her superior. Any thing he could imagine, from this realm or another, he could become or combine two species together to make the threat greater. Before the sun rose he would have the child.

Anna sent a storm of fire swirling about him. She flew faster and faster, never losing pace. Her eyes were focused on both the demon and what was a head of her, the heart in her chest pounding against her body. What on earth was that creature? Annabelle wasn't scared, just simply curious. "What are you now?" she asked, as if he might actually tell her what beast he was. It didn't matter, because she could see him anyway. She just thought that there might be a name for it. Her body and wings tilted, allowing her to turn sharply around the castle walls.

"Why would it matter to you?" He snapped with a growl in his voice as he drove his wings down harder to push him faster as his course changed to follow her. "Unless the child is surrendered I will be nothing more than your murderer." His claws took hold, digging deep into the feathers of her wings as he fell past missing only slightly. His lion mouth took hold of the griffon's leg as he passed ready to crush it as he had done with Caspian's only hours before. But for the sake of the child he settled with wresteling for it. His hooves thrashed wildly in the air as they hung below him, the added weight bringing them down. The claws on his front paws scratched at anything he could reach, save for the child.

Annabelle howled in pain, and the baby cried loudly, scared again. She struck his face with her lionclaws, twisting her paw out of his jaws. In his attempt to attack her, the foolish beast had forgotten about defense. That was the price of being so filled with selfconfidence and pride, hatred and cockiness. She let loose a blast of fire, spraying it into his face and eyes. Then she turned, slashing out at him only briefly with her sharp talons, and snapping her beak down on his nose, though she had been aiming for an eye. "What do you want with a baby?" she cried. "You are not a father, nor do you have any reason to desire a child." Anna hissed, spreading her wings and flying again. They didn't hurt just now, though blood bubbled from her wounds. The chemicals rushing from her brain wouldn't let her feel it yet. But by Aslan, it would hurt later. She didn't stop to observe them, and simply pressed onward. Her golden eyes scanned the area, alert. The baby was still unharmed, though sobbing loudly.

The fire struck and he roared, but did not let himself fall. His wings beat furiously with endless endurance as he fought to keep his ground. Pieces of his mane still burned slightly but he ignored them. "Without him asscention is impossible," He said knowing it might make since if she was a smart bird, but it wasn't likely. His plan may still be as safe as it ever was. He gripped the child with sheathed paws and pulled hard. For an instant the screaming boy broke free from both of their grasps and fell a number of feet before he was caught. In the instant his body landed in the saftey of his paws he began a steep climb until he was high above clouds. The gryffon could not follow him here, the air was too thin. To be certain he soared higher using his constantly changing demon lungs to keep him alive. Then he left as he felt the child grow limp in his arms from the lack of his life-giving oxygen. When he decended from the clouds he was easily hundreds of miles from where he began.

Anna followed him, zooming fast as she could. She wouldn't give up. Not tonight. She came up behind him by maybe a few feet, but now she was growing tired. She let out another stream of fire, snatching the babe from his deadly claws. "Thought you lost me, didn't you? Think again." She hissed, snuggling the baby back against the warmth of her body. She flew fast away from him, fire showing in the air the path that she had taken. Prince Galen would not be taken from Narnia. Never. She kept well enough ahead of him, her eyes scanning the ground below. The Castle was far from here, but not impossible to reach. It might just take them a while. The baby looked deathly, and she cursed the demon. He couldn't take the lack of oxygen like a full grown human could. Never would Galen be able to survive in their care. Anna shot fire back at him whenever she deemed it neccessary. How foolish he was to think so lowly of a gryphon. Especially a gryphon that had flown across the ocean and back in the same day, and without taking but a minute rest. A smirk played across her face. She wouldn't lose this battle. She wouldn't lose the Royal Child. The beast flew fast, her strength building up within her. Oh how angry he must be... she thought sarcastically. "Isn't their something that you ought to be doing? Taking your little Lamont home, perhaps?" she teased.
