"Uh...no," Syria shook her head. She gasped as she was flipped upside down. A shocked expression crossed her face as she laughed for the first time. Then she realized that she was truely free from Lamont, although there was a huge chance he would take her back. She shivered at the thought.

Anna chuckled as she heard her gasp. She found it quite amusing to carry a first-time rider. "What's wrong?" the winged animal inquired. "Why are you so unhappy? Don't you like heights?" she asked. Annabelle stopped flapping and held her wings out, gliding on the ocean air. She could smell the salt from the water as it rose from the sea. It smelled good to her.

Syria shook her head. "Its nothing," she replied, lying. She then sighed. "Its going to take me a while to get use to being free." she then told her. She titled her head to one side, quietly watching the riples from the waves.

"Why?" the curios gryphon asked. "Are you not happy to be free?" Anna flew lower to the ocean, letting the child on her back get a closer look. The ocean looked both light and dark, black with depth and bright with the reflection of the sun. Little fish were swimming several feet below the surface, Annabelle could see, darting to and fro like crickets on land.

Syria paused. "I am happy being free," she admitted, looking down at the gryphon's neck. Her thoughts were on the past. "I'm just....not sure if anyone wants me there," she voiced her thoughts sheepishly, her eyes still on the neck. She slowly leant her head over to take a good look at the ocean. Her eyes went wide with shock and pleasure. "I mean....I'm not sure if they would want me...."

"The Narnians? Of course we want you there!" Annabelle said. "Why wouldn't we? You're better off with us than you are with Lamont, and we have plenty of room." The gryphon swooped to drink the water, but then spit it out as she recognized its salty flavor. "We're going to free the others too." she told the girl. "The other slaves, I mean. We're going to free them. You're the first."

Syria hesitated while playing with a few strands of her hair. Her eyes glittered with what looked like hope for the first time she could remember. "I guess....but I really didn't have a home to belong to while I was only a baby. I guess I kinda got use to it for a bit. It does get lonely at times but I wished they didn't die though,"

"Well, Narnia can be your home now." she said encouragingly. "Who knows? There's plenty of good people in Narnia and Telmar, maybe you'll make some friends." Anna said. She flew higher into the sky now, about the hight she had been before. "What do you think?" inquired the animal.

A serne smile was now on her face. Syria blinked. "You might be right," she said with a smile. "Its just that my first encounter in Narnia was with horrible people. I'm hoping that'll change and soon." she gently gripped the animal's neck. Her eyes went wide as they sparkled with pleasure.

"It will." Anna said, before tilting her body and folding her wings to her sides. She rolled to the right in the air, and then thrust her wings out again to catch the wind that carried them over the sea. Now that she was right-side-up again, the beast turned its head to make sure that the child was still on her back. A smile spread across her lips and she chuckled, knowing that Syria hadn't expected her to do that.

Syria shrieked with shock and pleasure. She laughed as she clinged to her. This was perhaps the most fun she had ever had in a while. Her eyes sparkled with delight.

"You still there?" Anna asked her. Not waiting for a response, she did a summersault and fell through the air, plummeting towards the ocean waters. At the last moment she pulled up, spreading her wings again and speeding off towards the sky. That was probably more dangerous to do, with a rider on her back. But the gryphon had always been a dare-devil.

Syria shrieked with surprise as the gryphon did a few stunts in the air. She gently clutched her neck, careful as to not hurt her. "Yes," she managed to whisper. Her eyes wide with delight.

Anna laughed. "Do you like flying?" she asked, still chuckling. The beast flew normally now, conserving her energy for a bit. Her golden eyes scanned the sea below, watching the shadows on the water.
