Caspian looked down at her and began to run towards the Castle. "Leave her alone!" he shouted to the voices. "If it's me you want to speak with, come then to my mind. Do not torture my wife!" he hissed at them. Then he reminded the little devils, "Queen Susan Pevensie of Narnia is whom you cause so much misery, did you know that? You must have. And you must also know that Aslan supports her, don't you? In this case you know that he won't be pleased to know, -in fact, he already does know -how you've been hurting her. How you've been invading a mind not your own, killing hope and spreading pain and anger and confusion like a disease. Leave the Gentle Queen alone. It's me you want, it's me you'll get. You've been invited." Caspian said to them, trying his best to persuade the angery... things to leave Susan. If it meant that they must come to his mind, then so be it. He didn't care. Just so long as they left his wife alone.

"We know who it is we lie inside," She struggled to relay their messages. With the initial chaos slowly fading she could understand them much better and it took her much less time to speak between sentances. The voice, the one she had been hearing long before the others joined. was the one who assumed leadership and spoke the most. "we chose her well and not without purpose. The anger and confusion is no disease, but life. Show me a person who dose not live in pain and truth will prove you otherwise. But your invitations are welcome, perhaps some of us will come. But not I. I have become fond of this home, this lost and torn mind, and I intend to stay. Perhaps one of my brethern will come. Perhaps you will be cursed with joy."

Caspian felt enraged. "What brings you so much happiness in torturing another?" he snapped. "Especially one that has done you no wrong. Who the hell are you, anyway?" demanded Caspian, still running towards the Castle.

"It is not out of desire to hurt," He said through her, "If she readily accepted pain then we would speak of joyous things. It is desire to give truth, and only this. It is because she choses to hide behing a cloak of kindness and, though most of it is true, some of it is not. No mater how she tries to tell herself otherwise she will always have a wandering mind and heart. It is what tears the both of you apart, not your being." Susan tried to stop, she didn't want to say anything more about her insides. They were things, thoughts, and secrets she wanted hiden as long as she could. But the voices controled her body as they searched through every hiden corner of her mind and continued. "It is not her way to accept what she has, but to desire what she cannot. The girl is simply an abomination designed to reach beyond any lenght to have something, but once it is in her grasp it becomes useless and she grows weary. It is why she left you and why she bothered to come back here on this night. She will lie to her mind and her heart. She will claim that her coming is because she loves you when in truth she dose not. You are no more than a prize to her, a prize to an unwinable contest. She won you before and grew weary of the prize and went to another. But now, with the presence of this other girl wanting you as well, the stakes have been raised and you have become more valuable."

Caspian forced a laugh at this. "You're wrong." he said to the voice. "Susan loves me. She's told me so, and proved it. The whole reason that she wanted to stay with my cousin in the first place was to protect me, but then it turned into something more." his voice grew sad as he spoke the last bit. "But she still loves me, and one day we will be together again, and you will be gone. Gone forever."

"I cannot be wrong. I have seen and explored every portion of her mind and have read into her conscience even deeper than she has. That is why I know these things. Yes, I have been wrong once, but that was simply because I attempted to reach farther than the limits of this one, already complicated mind. And for that I was shamed, weakened, and punished. That I will never do again. But never again was or will I be wrong. It is my duty to teach a single lucky soul their true purpose. Susan was the one I chose to teach. I enjoy searching through her. Her past, her thoughts and emotions, her fears and loves, and her future. All of it I find intresting, like no other I have ever seen. I would say you were lucky to have a mind so complex, so diffrent than all others, but she dose not truely love you so your luck would be counted as bad."

"My luck would be counted as good." Caspian argued. "Because she does love me and you are wrong. And one day, your life will end. One day, she will have peace again. One day, Susan and I will be together again." he said. "Leave her alone. You are like a parasite in her mind. All you do is hurt her, and you haven't taught her anything besides what it feels like to have someone control you. Get away from her!" he hissed.

"I will never leave!" She growled unintentionaly, her voice hardened, and her body shook at the voice's anger. "I stand for Aslan. Susan will free herself when she embraces the truth of herself, when she accepts the shame of her past, and when she understands of what is to come from it. I stand for Aslan. I have no control over her body, and never have I attempted it. I stand for Aslan. I have done what I can to teach her, yet you continue to lie and feed her heart with false hope and that alone causes me to have to start over. I stand for Aslan. If it is anyone who seeks to destory her it is you."

"Yet another lie from the 'truth-giver'" Caspian hissed. "You are controlling her body right now! Don't you say that you have never. And I want nothing but for her to be happy and live and be healthy. All I ever wanted was to see her smile and hear her laugh. Never would I even dream of hurting her, so don't you go throughing bullshit like that around." Caspian snapped. He rarely swore.

"I do not control her voice," He said ignoring his curse, "Place your hand upon her throat, you will see that her vocal cords do not move. The voice is my own, not hers. I do not control her, but mearly speak through her. An eagle soars through the air, using the currents to fly, yet you do not claim he controls the wind itself. No, it is Kindra who controls the wind and gives power to your witch friend. And I, like the eagle and the wind, use her to speak. You invited me and I came by what means I could. I cannot simply appear around you as Kindra can, I have no form. And still my argument stands: I have never, and will never, control her. I am content with searching her mind and have no need of her body."

"You are using her lips to form your words." Caspian said wisely. "So yes, you are controling her." he snapped. "And my arguement stands. You are a liar. And you have lied at least twice in the past four minutes. One, you are controlling her, though you claim that you are not. And two, you have said that I seek to destroy her, and I do not. You are a liar." he finished.

"I continue to speak, therefore my words are truth. Only when I lie can I be silent. If I had lied anwhere in my argument I would be rendered silent and would speak no more for a great while. I have not lied and by this I stand. I have not controled-" The island was silenced as all her pain surged at once and she screamed, "Stop this! No more fighting! Just leave Caspian alone!" Without his knowledge another battle was being fought within her. Susan hid within her mind where Caspian could not hear her. She fought with the other voices, but now she could take no more. She shuddered and held onto Caspian wishing she could hold his hand, but he needed it to ensure she didn't fall as he held her. Instead she just settled for leaning against him and crying. The dark voice would not speak through her then.

Caspian kept silent, deciding that his argument with the voice would have to wait. He rushed though the castle doors, and into the medical chambers. How surprised were the nurse maids to see him with the Queen in his arms, again. He carefully laid her down on the bed and let them take care of her, because he knew that they would. The King sat down beside her on the bed where she lay. He wanted to say something to her, anything to comfort her, but he was frightend that his words would only summon the voice back and bring her pain. Caspian didn't want that.

So many people swarmed around her trying to tend to them. The voices were silent when they came. They did not want the others to know of them. They put ice over her trying to stop her fever and bring her skin back to normal. It did little to help. She shook as they took away her dress and reapplied the stitches, a few grumbling on how they should have been notified sooner so they could have helped. Some claimed there was little they could do. When susan managed to open her eyes, the first time since the argument began, the world was far to bright for her and she moved to cover her eyes with her arm. Even though the strength required to lift her arm was not great, but still it shook violently as if it was complicated. The nurses saw her trembling and forced her arm back down to her side, they did not want her aggravateing her condition. Her head rolled to the side and she looked to Caspian, her eyes meeting with his as she whispered his name.

"You're okay." Caspian said, looking down at her and holding her hand. He didn't know what to do now. He wanted to help her in someway, but knew that he couldn't. All he could do now was watch and pray that she would be healed and cured. His thumb brushed the top of her hand gently as he looked into her eyes. Caspian leaned down and kissed her forehead, but one of the nurses gasped and pulled him back soon after his lips had touched her skin. She warned him that he could catch whatever disease Susan had, but Caspian didn't care. Not even being killed could stop him from kissing her. The man gazed back down at her eyes, and gave an encouraging smile. She would be okay.
